The Sun Is Going Down II Lyrics
The summer is going to end
on a rainy day like this
he packed his house and left her
Now she will stay awake
and wait for him to come
she might now wait forever
I´ll find my way to the sea
i´ll run before it ends
úúúú the sun is going down
i´m saying goodbye, bye, bye
He is the summer end
she sees him run away
outside her kitchen window
Her tears will stay awake
they made this rainy day come
she is the winter weather
I´ll find my way to the sea
i´ll run before it ends
(he said in the note he left her)
úúúú the sun is going down
he´s saying goodbye, bye, bye
the summer loves the winter
on a rainy day like this
he packed his house and left her
and wait for him to come
she might now wait forever
i´ll run before it ends
úúúú the sun is going down
i´m saying goodbye, bye, bye
she sees him run away
outside her kitchen window
Her tears will stay awake
they made this rainy day come
she is the winter weather
i´ll run before it ends
(he said in the note he left her)
úúúú the sun is going down
he´s saying goodbye, bye, bye

I love this idea she presents of opposites attracting, although it doesn't seem so original when I put it that way. "The summer loves the winter"--that line expresses so much about the nature of things, of human drives for pain and pleasure both, that make her truly stand out in my eyes among other songwriters. Summer seems to love winter for allowing it some uniqueness and distinction, some opposite feeling separate from the self and blind narcissism. I think people can represent things like that for each other regardless of sexual intentions or genetics. The metaphors are ample and aesthetically pleasing in a musical and poetic sense. Beautiful.
