Watch the Corners Lyrics

Every morning came
I don't like that you can hide in
We expect the same
But I've no one to confide in
And I want you to be with us
And in time there's no forgiveness
And the plan was set in stone long ago
There's never not a time not to know

Can I run, but you'll be there
Disappear it's never fair
It's like a stare
When I call to tell you no
Every action going slow
Can I whisper all alone
Can I find it far from home
There's a time to make you move
All at once the time flew

Every morning came
I don't like that you can hide in
We expect the same
But I've no one to confide in
And I want you to be with us
And in time there's no forgiveness
And the plan was set in stone long ago
There's never not a time not to know

Can I run, but you'll be there
Disappear it's never fair
It's like a stare
When I call to tell you no
Every action going slow
Can I whisper all alone
Can I find it far from home
There's a time will make you move
All at once the time flew

Hey me watch the corners,
Watch me 'cause I know what you done
Hey me don't you know
Watch me 'cause I'm all alone

When you have a little toddler in the house, you have to watch their heads from hitting the corners of the furniture as they learn to walk on their own, it's an analogy, "hey me, watch the corners" because you're a part of me, you're my kid you are 'me' at another time - watch the video, it's about a teen girl discovering some things about herself which her dad is uncomfortable but mostly cool with "'i want you to be with us" "but the plan was set in stone long ago" - it's natural to grow up, there's really no wrong time to discover stuff, you do when you do, though dad's uncomfortable, he knows he has to let go and let her learn but he's there to pick her up when she gets hurt - really it's a pretty deep and beautiful song and video as usual from J !

@starman714 also watch the corners could be an analogy to taking a corner too fast while riding a bike or vehicle, you can wipe out, so watch the turns you're encountering. Either way it's about being careful you don't get hurt.

To me this song's about growing up and how time will never change... Time has never stopped and it never will, so it's "set in stone". I get nostalgic when I listen to this song, there's just something about the song that invokes nostalgia and childhood. Cold, chilly summer mornings and staying out late with my neighbors. Good times!

Also, that solo at the end was such a defining moment in my music-listening history. It's so good. Dino Jr. haven't lost a step in their music!

Mascis has already said that this song is about the life of a vampire, if you read the lyrics you'll see that this is true
