Honestly, this song feels like a couple who had a big fight one night, but settled everything and now feel more loving to each other after going through it.

(This man used to be dishonest to the woman he loved but since their fight he stopped but he remembers that time. He used to hide from his problems and leave her alone but has now decided to revive their relationship and stay with her)

Never used words like best, prettiest, lovliest (superlatives) on anbody but her B. She used those words to describe him but at the time he avoided it)

(This is the present day. Their conflict is resloved almost completely. " You put your friends to bed" maybe is all of the people who doubted them. Or actually showing friends to their rooms. Before "[She] kept the light on" when they fought and now things are better "You turn out the light." He know feels secure enough to think about the future, having a family together, and finally feels that he has everything he needs.)

I love this song so much :) It just really shows that things can get better

I think this song is about having a bunch of one night stands and he finally wants to settle down with this girl " I used to run at first sight of the sun Now I lay here waiting for you to wake up" when he talks about tricks up his sleeve maybe meaning picking up girls but he finally met this girl who he wants to spend the rest of his life with even though he never thought he would find someone like that.

Goodness such an awesome song. I think it's about growing up and moving away from perhaps your partying ways where you're with different women a lot and finally settling down with one. I love the final verse where goes "the city outside is nothing but a flicker now. you see our friends to bed, you turn out the lights. I start to think you'll make a beautiful mother and I like to think I've everything I want from this life." Beautiful summary of growing up where the woman you love is gonna be a fucking awesome wife and mom and your friends are growing up with you and your life is good. I love it. fun. is awesome
