Happy Karma Christmas Lyrics
Would it have been best to forget you
Would it have been better for me
And if I could write off your intentions
Would you pretend you don’t love me
And I wish you a happy karma Christmas
And I miss you my happy karma girl
My karma girl
Sometimes I think I’m just a phantom
Loneliness grows deep within me
I gave you love, I gave you fortune
Still you insist you don’t love me
And I wish you a happy karma Christmas
And I miss you my happy karma girl
And I wish you a happy karma Christmas
And I miss you my happy karma girl
My karma girl
Would it have been better for me
And if I could write off your intentions
Would you pretend you don’t love me
And I miss you my happy karma girl
My karma girl
Loneliness grows deep within me
I gave you love, I gave you fortune
Still you insist you don’t love me
And I miss you my happy karma girl
And I wish you a happy karma Christmas
And I miss you my happy karma girl
My karma girl
Karma is: what goes around, comes around. I think Stevens simply wishes to communicate that love is better than not love. Rejection of friendship and love just does no good for either person. Sufjan's karma girl insists she doesn't love him. In a way, he may be speaking quite generally here in that we all tend to reject love rather than accept it. In the end love wins, as C.S. Lewis put it. What we reap, we sow. Love and love will come around; reject love and in turn your love will be rejected. What do you think?
Happy Karma Christmas everyone!
