This song is so F**king sick. First time I heard this was on Letterman...it's been on repeat ever since xD
It sounds to me that the song is about someone he loved, and they were all sorts of crazy together and had a bunch of fun, but now now they're over and/or she's been doing something he considers bad for her (like drugs, drinking a lot or something...) Either they're still together and she's been getting worse with her "Addiction" lets call it, and they go out taking pictures (maybe spying on/stalking/investigating people is what they're doing together?) Or they're broken up and he's stalking her and taking pictures of her, which seems more likely to me. But he's still in love with her either way...
However you look at the lyrics its a beautiful song. For me, because of when I started listening to it a few months ago, it makes me thing of doing stupid stuff (in my case drugs) and knowing it was stupid but loving it anyway. The lyrics and the music itself make me feel that way. And maybe that IS the real essence of this song in the end...
Have to disagree...I think "pictures" is a metaphor...dreams/obsession/alternate realities...dreams are supposedly always in black in white...he's seems to be drowning from his own thoughts/mind.
