Gone, Gone, Gone Lyrics

When life leaves you high and dry
I'll be at your door tonight
If you need help,
If you need help.
I'll shut down the city lights,
I'll lie and cheat I'll beg and bribe
To make you well,
To make you well.

When enemies are at your door
I'll carry you away from war
If you need help,
If you need help.
Your hope dangling by a string
I'll share in your suffering
To make you well,
To make you well.

Give me reasons to believe
that you would do that same for me
and I would do it,
For you, for you.
Baby I'm not moving on,
I'll love you long after you're gone.
For you, for you
You will never sleep alone,
I'll love you long after you're gone.
And long after you're gone gone gone.

When you fall like a statue
I'm gonna be there to catch you
And put you on your feet,
Put you on your feet.
And if your well is empty
Not a thing will prevent me
Tell me what you need,
What do you need.

I surrender honestly.
You've always done the same for me.
So I will do it
For you, for you.
Baby I'm not moving on,
I'll love you long after you're gone.
For you, for you
You will never sleep alone,
I'll love you long after you're gone.
And long after you're gone gone gone.

You're my backbone
You're my cornerstone
You're my crutch when my legs stop moving
You're my head start
You're my rugged heart
You're the pulse that I've always needed
Like a drum baby don't stop beating
Like a drum baby don't stop beating
Like a drum baby don't stop beating
Like a drum my heart never stops beating

For you, for you.
Baby I'm not moving on,
I'll love you long after you're gone.
For you, for you
You will never sleep alone,
I'll love you long after you're gone.
For you, for you.
Baby I'm not moving on,
I'll love you long after you're gone.
For you, for you
You will never sleep alone,
I'll love you long, long after you're gone.

Like a drum baby don't stop beating
Like a drum baby don't stop beating
Like a drum baby don't stop beating
Like a drum my heart never stops beating for you.
And long after you're gone gone gone.
I'll love you long after you're gone gone gone.

I believe what the meaning of this song is about is loving someone so much that you are willing to let them leave. Not because you did anything wrong, but because they are so scared of the love you make them feel. You are letting them know that no matter what they have done you will always been there no matter what. The part about "you will never sleep alone" he is talking about the fact when you affect some in that manner; that someone knows deep in there heart that you were the best for each other and you will always be with them in there mind and in there heart. By knowing that you will be the one they will call when they when or if life comes crashing down. The part about "give me reasons to believe you would for me and I would do it for you" Deep down they would save you if you needed them because they have already gave you the reasons. the place tin there heart. They may run but you are still apart of each other.

Atleast that is what I believe he is saying here. Because after losing my love just recently due to that. I know no matter what I will do every one of those things. I also truely believe she would drop anything and be by my side if I crashed. I know I will be the first one she will call when she needs someone there the most.

I just love this song .. its about caring for someone regardless of time and space.

I think just because of my life that it's talking about loving someone and being willing to do everything and anything for them, but knowing that they do not feel the same and so eventually, that everything includes letting them go. Your love for them will never change, but you just have to let them go and ultimately I think that, when all is said and done, when you truly love someone, letting them go is harder than dying for them would be.

My Interpretation

Yes that is so true. Thank you!!! letting them go is worse than dying for them would be.

This is a very well written Love Song.

The main question in my mind is in regards to whether or not this song is written for someone he Loves and is currently in a relationship with, or if the girl is someone he Loves and wishes he was still with her.

Since I recently lost my soul mate and most deep Love, I would tend to say this song speaks to me from my vantage point.

When the lyrics "Baby I'm not moving on, I'll Love you long after you're gone" are sung, it immediately speaks to me from a man who can't, won't, and all but refuses to stop loving his woman. As he is begging her "Like a drum baby don't stop beating" to keep her heart going..To keep Love alive.

It sounds like he is giving her space because she has asked it for some reason, but that he would be there in a second if she ever needed him again.

When he sings "You'll never sleep alone" I don't know if he necessarily thinks he will be her mate going forward. It sounds like he holds her in such high regards, that he strongly feels she will always have a man to lean on and have in her bed with her.

My Interpretation

@Jhart97 this has been my experi nice as well.i lost my girlfriend of almost 11 years to breast cancer.. She fought it for 10 years and beat it 3 times. When I hear this song I cry. I saw my girlfriend with and with out hair, at her best and at her worst but I love her. It didn't matter what time of day or night it was I would be there for her at a phone call or text. I feel when he sings "you will never sleep alone" it's because they are with you for the rest of...

I believe this song is about caring for someone so much and having that unconditional love for someone. You try so hard to keep them in your life and have that one special person there, but they just don't feel the same. You want them too, and you hope that they will care and feel the same about you, but you can't force them to stay with you. All you can do is just hope that one day they will come back to you and realize that you were the best person to enter their life. You'll try to move on, but the memories you made with that person will never leave, you'll remember them forever. They will always have the special place in your heart.

I don't think this song is about allowing anyone to leave. To me, it is about the strongest bond between two people and their undying love for each other. As he looks into her eyes, he tells her he will do anything for her; he lets her know that she is his strength.

And even though she is right by his side at this moment, he assures her that when she has passed, his love for her will remain. Even though he says he will not move on...he will, but nothing can break the bond that they share.

I've been married to the same man for 29 years today and our bond is as strong as ever. And when you experience the loss of someone close to you, you realize that the bond you had will last forever. It is the perfect love song!

My Opinion

I would like to add to my opinion/interpretation. This song could be about any close relationship. It could be between siblings, spouses, partners, best friends...anyone you can develop a deep, lasting relationship with because when you lose someone dear, their memory lasts forever.

You folks all nailed it on the head however The last part "I will love you long after your'e gone gone gone takes on a special meaning for me because my girlfriend of 10 years lost her battle to breast cancer on May 1,2014. She bear it 3 times before that. I saw her when she was healthy and when she was sick. I saw her with and without hairEvery time I hear this song it makes me cry.

In my opinion, this song is about a man whose wife is dying. The title is "Gone, Gone, Gone", for one thing. And he doesn't presume that he might go first – he says "I'll love you long after YOU'RE gone...", which tells us that she is going to "go" first. He also mentions her "suffering", and says he'll share in her suffering to "make you well". She has a terminal illness, that's why she's suffering and why he wants to make her well. He uses the metaphor of a drum for her heart, which he wants to keep on beating (in other words, 'please don't die').
