Inhaler Lyrics

Sticks and stones
Don't break my bones
They're make believe.

It's lock and load
It's a dead end road
For you and me.

I'm rusted gold
I'm stripped and sold
I'm make believe.

I'm up for rent
My head is spent
I guarantee.

So can you not go away?
If just for one day?
Impossible possible
How d'you feel now?
How d'you feel now in a war?
War sends out for you
Throw your fortune away
Cause I can't get enough space...

Space, space, space.

I'm pale and coy
A momma's boy
I make believe.

I shimmy and shake
I wake and bake
I'm over me.

My lungs defeat
I cannot breathe
Don't follow me.

And you push and shove
I've had enough
You best believe.

So can you not go away?
If just for one day?
The impossible possible
How d'you feel now?
How d'you feel now in a war?
War sends out for you
Throw your fortune away
Cause I can't get enough space...

Space, space, space.

The songs is definitely about conflict but I am not sure from what ...could be a girlfriend, his country, religion or himself. The title says it all. He is smothered to the point of not being able to breath. He needs an inhaler to breath or in other words space from everything.

The entire lyric connotes conflict and attempts at resolution...<3 johnny

My Opinion

the first verses denotes some sort of depreciation to the speaker himself but the chorus shows that he's just feeling that way cause he needs space... well, at least that's what I've get from these lyrics... great song!

I'm pretty confident that this songs is about the disintegration of someone's relationships, and how he's becoming more and more disconnected from others' attempts to get a rise out of him....

In a way your all right. Yannis said in an interview this song is about curbing his weed intake and his anger of confinement and living in an over crowded city, hence the line " i can't get enough space", i know its not very abstract and a bit predictable but as far as i know that's all Yannis intended it to mean.

I think the song is about a break up . After the breakup he is pretty badly hurt that all the emotions he faced before seem nothing in comparison with how he is feeling now. He wants to move on but is stuck in that awkward middle place where one we want to move on but at the same time wants to cling on to the last bits of the relationship. He feels suffocated feeling like this(Hence the title - Inhaler). To move on all he needs is space and nothing else ........

I believe this song is about freeing yourself from anything holding you. Whether drugs are involved or not, we all sometimes have feelings that imprison us, that repress or arbitrarily invade us making us feel bad. Hence the chorus about not getting enough space in a way that leaves us overwhelmed, indecisive, frozen in panic in front of conflict. Screaming for space is a way to demonstrate that we also think and feel. It's the end of the dead end road.

My Interpretation

When i listen to this song I feel its about trying to make your way through the world with weed as a passenger.

It invokes that anxious feeling when you're surrounded by people not in the same headspace as you, pushing and shoving with an urgency that seems obscene.

That cycle where you just wish everyone would go away and then you realise you've put yourself in this positon. The person is very self-depricating in the narrative and I think this is indictative of becoming frustrated and then understanding that it's your own fault.....................like when i get too high and then have to go for Sunday dinner with my in-laws.....or go to a meeting.......or travel by public transport.

It can apply generally to what's been stated but I think it's about drug addiction.
