Rosemary Lyrics

There’s no sound
But the engine’s drone
Our minds set free
To roam
Time shift
We discover the entry
To other planes
Our minds bend
And our fingers fold
Entwined we dream of unknown
Time shift
We discover the entry
To other planes
Stay with me
As we cross the empty spaces
Come sail with me
Through time
We slow down
As the engines stall
Our eyes catch sync
We explode
Time shift
We discover the entry
To other planes
Time shift
As we collide
With the energy
In other ways
Stay with me
As we cross the empty skies
Come sail with me
We play in dreams
As we cross through
Space and time
Just stay with me…

Time travel...... I was part of a twitter q&a on the day they released their album and a fan asked what this song was about and chino said it was about time travel

Amazing song. There's only a rip of the casette version at the moment. I wonder how much more crisper the album's track will be.

To me it sounds like it's a journey between two people, possibly lovers. The ending instrumental sounds a little depressing though, so I don't know how things went for them.

I disagree, and will say the ending is beautiful and blissful; the lovers, they got through well :)

@ZenDiablo I know this is a very old comment but I interpret the hectic part of the instrumental as going through the "entry to other planes" and they discover a place of peace where it is just them.

This song is so so good, to me sounds like a song about the dimensional shift we are supposedly coming into, depends on your beliefs....but it could definitely be about mind expansion and evolving to operate on a higher wave of consciousness. Either way it blows my mind, this album is incredible.

To me, this song has obvious time travel aspects as mentioned previously. However, without reading the lyrics closely, I heard "sync" as "sea." This made me interpret the direct lyrics as pilots knowing their plane had malfunctioned, and was about to crash into the sea. The lyrics and music of the song are the two knowing their time in this life was over, and that they were simply frozen together knowing that their lives were about to end. All the uncertainty of the afterlife, or lack thereof had them clinging towards each other for some sort of comfort together through it all. The heavy rift at the end signified to me the fear of the unknown as it was actually happening.. (Explode,) Like one can calm themselves about the idea of death until it actually happens, then they are all alone no matter whom or what they try to cling onto in this life.. The 'calm after the storm' transition from the heavy rift at the end to the calming music at the very end of the song that goes back and forth throughout the song signifies death to me for some reason.. Their last moments were those of fear to calm, fear to calm, until their lives were over. In the end, the fear of 100% knowing their demise due to no other choice led to the calm at the end of the song despite the transitions to freak out to accepting their fate.. Pilots or simply someone on their death bed clinging to a significant other or other family member for moments of peace before death and the transition to the unknown..

Nevertheless, this is my favorite song off their newest album, which blew me away, and it is truly a timeless masterpiece that is under appreciated IMO.

@Me_la_chingo You absolutely nailed this, and I applaud your perception.

To me it seems like it's about two people who discover time travel and decide to travel trough different planes of existence together. I love the last part; to me it seems like they're describing it as being so surreal and dreamlike.

This song feels very inspired by The Cure, love it. They could be singing about that precious moment when you are with that special someone, and it just feels like time should stop so that it stays like that forever.

This song is about a plane crash, and is written from the perspective of the passengers of said plane crash after the plane breaks apart in the sky but before they lose consciousness and hit the ground at 600 mph, obviously dying on impact or in some cases before impact. It is one of the most incredible songs I've ever heard in my life.

I have been certain this song is about a plane crash since the very first listen. I realize the lyrics are referring to planes of existence, while also describing a plane crash, which can make some believe I mistook the meaning of the lyrics. But I remain confident, having just listened to this song once again, that it is about a plane crash.

Discovering the entry to other planes (of existence) is referring to the minds of the passengers being completely open due to the enormous stress and fear of what is happening. The song speaks to accepting ones mortality, especially under the most extreme circumstances, during which the mind's full potential is finally unlocked for the first time...and the futility and irony of such a profound state of enlightenment only being attainable moments before one's own death. The silver lining being...of course...that we might all achieve this state, even if only for a fleeting final few moments.

I absolutely love this song. I absolutely love this band. This album, the album before it, the albums after it, are some of the best music Deftones have ever created. Which makes me think of the incredible music that might have been if Chi were never in that car accident, even tho Diamond Eyes was one of the best albums I've ever heard in my life...I'd give that away if Chi were alive and well.

My Interpretation

This song makes me come super hard.
