Your hand fits in mine like it's made just for me
But bear this in mind, it was meant to be
And I'm joinin' up the dots with the freckles on your cheeks
And it all makes sense to me
I know you've never loved the crinkles by your eyes when you smile
You've never loved your stomach or your thighs
The dimples in your back at the bottom of your spine
But I'll love them endlessly

I won't let these little things slip
Out of my mouth
But if I do, it's you
Oh, it's you they add up to
I'm in love with you
And all these little things

You can't go to bed without a cup of tea
And maybe that's the reason that you talk in your sleep
And all those conversations are the secrets that I keep
Though it makes no sense to me
I know you've never loved the sound of your voice on tape
You never want to know how much you weigh
You still have to squeeze into your jeans
But you're perfect to me

I won't let these little things slip
Out of my mouth
But if it's true, it's you
It's you they add up to
I'm in love with you
And all these little things

You'll never love yourself half as much as I love you
And you'll never treat yourself right, darlin', but I want you to
If I let you know I'm here for you
Maybe you'll love yourself like I love you, oh

And I've just let these little things slip
Out of my mouth
'Cause it's you, oh, it's you
It's you they add up to
And I'm in love with you
And all these little things
I won't let these little things slip
Out of my mouth
But if it's true, it's you
It's you they add up to
I'm in love with you
And all your little things

    My Interpretation

First off, can I just say: thank the lord for Ed Sheeran for writing such beautiful lyrics and the boys for having such angelic voices, ugh!

This is how I see it... He starts off by singing about the girl he's in love with and how all the things she's insecure about when it comes to herself are actually things that make him love her. Then, he goes from saying "I won't let these little things slip out of my mouth" (I guess he doesn't want to point these things out because she's sensitive about them?) to saying "I've just let these little things slip out of my mouth." But it doesn't matter because all of these qualities (or "little things") make her who she is and as he says, she's perfect to him. So in the end, he's telling her he's in love with her and everything about her, no matter if she views some of those qualities as imperfections.

    My Interpretation

This song had the teenager in me squealing and giggling with joy. The lyrics are absolutely adorable. Girls can be so self-concious at times, and forget that its the 'little things' (good or bad) that contribute to them being the amazing person they are. This song is such a beautiful reminder.

He saying that he doesn't want to let her get so insecure into her size and how the way she sees herself, because he loves those 'little things' about her. Then he starts saying it to her, because all those little insecurities are what makes her, her. I'm not a crazy 1-D fan but this is a great song.

    My Opinion

ok first off: I LOVE THIS SONG TO BITS!! seriously, it feels like it was written for me!! anyways enough of me.

i love this song for many reasons:

    1. they are showing a side we havent really seen before: they are showing that no matter what you look like, no matter your insecurities, there is someone else out there that love you for who you are and love your so-called imperfections.

    2. i love that it is simple and its just them singing with their amazing voices.

    3. it show that not all teenaged boys are shallow and self-centered jerks, that they look beyond fake tans, fake boobs and dyed blonde hair.

    love you boys soo much!!

Its about reassuring the girl they love that all of her insecurities are what makes her her, " what makes her beautiful" you might want to say. That all those little things that make her her are why they love her. They love not only her, but all those little things.

They are basically saying that they see past the insecurities and flaws of the people they love, specifically in a relationship. It goes along with "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder."

I think its about their fans who have insecurities of all kind telling them that know matter what is going on they are worth it.

Literally one of only two 1D songs I like (other is What Makes You Beautiful) and that is partly down to the godsend that is Ed Freaking "I Made being ginger cool" Sheeran!!!!!!!!!!! (may have slightly fanboyed a bit much there) I think that if the boys stuck to ballads then they would be amazing, especially as it is undenyable that the girls love them, in the same way that I fawn over little mix. Possibly the greatest love song of all time! :~D

So this has been.my favorite song of OTEP's since it came out in 2004, and I always thought it was a song about a child's narrative of suffering in an abusive Christian home. But now that I am revisiting the lyrics, I am seeing something totally new. This song could be gospel of John but from the perspective of Jesus. Jesus was NOT having a good time up to and during the crucifixion. Everyone in the known world at the time looked to him with fear, admiration or disgust and he was constantly being asked questions. He spoke in "verses, prophesies and curses". He had made an enemy of the state, and believed the world was increasingly wicked and fallen from grace, or that he was in the "mouth of madness". The spine of atlas is the structure that allows the titan to hold the world up. Jesus challenged the state and in doing so became a celebrated resistance figure. It also made him public enemy #1. All of this happened simply because he was doing his thing, not because of any agenda he had or strategy. And then he gets scourged (storm of thorns) There are some plot holes here but I think it's an interesting interpretation.

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
