Last Girl on Earth Lyrics

Baby has a broken heart
She can't belong to only one
Until another girl is found
I don't pay for anything
My cigarettes or diamonds rings
My feet don't even touch the ground Oh, Oh, Oh Oh

Chariots of gold
I ride with Jay-Z, Jared Leto
I'mma superpower,
Now they call me the tornado
I got roses in my hair, I belly dance and do the tango
Sometimes I get lonely,
Everybody told me no

No one lives forever, but that's no reason to give up
Don't you wanna fall in love?
No such thing as heaven,
And I'm the last girl on earth
So baby, let's get it on

Cleopatra used to rule,
But she got nothing on me now,
'Cause I'm the last girl on earth
I turn the television on,
They only play my favorite song
Since I'm the last girl on earth Oh, oh, Oh, Oh

Chariots of gold,
I'm sitting, sipping cherry cola,
Caesar said he'd fall in love with me if I was older,
I own all of Mexico and I got my own roller-coaster,
Sometimes I get lonely, millions can hold me now

No one lives forever, but that's no reason to give up
Don't you wanna fall in love?
No such thing as heaven
And I'm the last girl on earth
So baby, let's get it on

I stay up late at night, try not to think about it,
Pretend I'm happy, living all the world without love,
I get so tired being in this place somehow,
Sometimes I get lonely, millions all own me now

No one lives forever, but that's no reason to give up
Don't you wanna fall in love?
No such thing as heaven
And I'm the last girl on earth
So baby, let's get it on

No such thing as heaven
And I'm the last girl on earth
So baby, let's get it on

Cover art for Last Girl on Earth lyrics by Lana Del Rey

This song is very interesting because it explores the idea that the societal world we know has come to an end, and she is the last remaining female, therefor she is worshipped by all men and they do everything for her to keep her happy and pampered. She says her heart is broken because she can't belong to only one man, one love to share just between her and another; she has to keep herself open to whoever happens to be catering to her every need at any given time. She's lonely because there is no real passion or soul connection, only superficial gifts and involvements with the droves of men populating the world. She says "No one lives forever, but that's no reason to give up," meaning she knows that despite the dystopian sort of way the world has turned out, she will not live forever, and she wants to fall in love before she dies. She pretends she's happy with all her trinkets, jewelry, her own roller coaster, dates with famous men, but she wants love and that is something that is very hard to attain when so many men are at her beckon call day after day almost like she's being passed around. She even says her feet don't even touch the ground, which could imply that she is carried/chauffeured everywhere she goes, or stays in bed most of the time (with a man, or alone), which keeps her from truly living life on her own terms. She says she "gets so tired being on display somehow", which in itself means that she is exhausted with being viewed as an object rather than a real person who desires more than expensive gifts and sex. She wants to fall in love, and continually searches for that man who might come save her someday, and until another girl is found in this great wide world, that could take a long time.
