Glitter Lyrics

Broken sitting on the ground,
waiting for a sign,
waiting for some kind of magic,
for something that is mine.
I have let it slip away,
no I've never let it in,
still I'm wondering why my life isn't a story book ending.

The fairytales lied and the Disney movies lied,
now I'm questiong everything I've ever known inside,
cause they led me to believe that everything would come for free,
but I'm learning quickly nothing's what it seems.

I thought it was all about glitter, I thought it was all about glamor,
but there's nothing less glamorous than mascara down your cheeks and crying for weeks,
over a boy who doesn't even care,
how come watching Cinderella never took me there?

Crying lying on the floor,
writing stupid rhymes,
I swear to you I've written this verse a hundred times,
I go back and forth til nothing makes sense,
I get caught between maturity and child innocence.

The fairytales lied and the Disney movies lied,
Cause I'm not some kind of princess that's been locked up inside,
I've been led to believe that love comes for free,
but I'm learning quickly that nothing's what it seems.

I'm sinking down, down under,
to a place where it's all about glitter
and now I live in this fantasy life
chasing movie scenes and living dreams because I can.

Down here it's all about glitter,
down here it's all about glamor,
skipping rocks off the docks and looking out into the sunset,
and every night we lay under the stars that shine and sparkle in your eyes
like the glitter in my heart
