Shepherd's Bush Lullaby Lyrics
In London it's raining but I'm not complaining as I walk in the grey afternoon.
And under my umbrella I sing a capella this melancholy, whimsical tune.
And I hope you can hear me, in dreams be near me as you sleep an ocean away.
And know that I love you, my every thought is of you, oh the clouds are beginning to break.
And under my umbrella I sing a capella this melancholy, whimsical tune.
And I hope you can hear me, in dreams be near me as you sleep an ocean away.
And know that I love you, my every thought is of you, oh the clouds are beginning to break.

I think DrumZildjian71 is spot on. I would like to fantasize that this song is somehow related to She and Him's song "London" given the recent divorce of Zooey Deschanel and Ben Gibbard. But it could be a coincidence.
I believe this song is about someone who he loves not being close to him (either physically or emotionally). "And I hope you can hear me, in dreams be near me as you sleep an ocean away."
But he's optimistic as things keep going. "In London it's raining but I'm not complaining as I walk in the grey afternoon."
He just wants them to know that everything will be OK and they'll be together again. "And know that I love you, my every thought is of you, oh the clouds are beginning to break."
