To me this song is about being in love with someone you feel is right for you, but for "some other time" other than now. Perhaps there is something or a multitude of things in the way of being with that person in the present moment; could be distance,age, maturity, self conflict, or all. It's about the pain of wondering if you'll get to be with this person, about taking risks and choosing to continue loving this person indefinitely in hopes they'll do the same and one day return to you and be able to carry out every mutual unfulfilled dream created in the space of separation. It's about having touched the perfect love in an imperfect time and waiting for nothing or perhaps everything.
