Living Each Day Blind Lyrics

In a dead end town,
tied to apron strings,
all our friends have left,
destined for better things.

Nothing to do,
no education,
can't afford a taxi to the station.

It's the end of the line,
got nowhere to go,
and we've got nowhere to be,
so what's stopping you from leaving here with me?

There's nothing left for us here,
let's face it.
We're losing sight of our dream,
let's chase it.
Leave our mediocre lives behind,
living Each Day Blind.
I'm sick of struggling,
just to get through it,
the time for talking is over,
let's do it.
Nothing you can say will change my mind,
living Each Day Blind.

The kettle is on,
the water is boiling,
one more cup of tea,
and I'm out of here.

Shut the door,
keys in the letterbox,
pause to wipe away a silent tear.

It's the end of the line,
got nowhere to go,
and we've got nowhere to be,
so what's stopping you from leaving here with me?

There's nothing left for us here,
let's face it,
we're losing sight of our dream,
let's chase it,
leave our mediocre lives behind

For once in my life,
you don't get to touch me any more,
and I'm free,
for once in my life,
you don't get to touch me any more.
Listen to me...

There's nothing left for us here,
let's face it,
we're losing sight of our dream,

Living Each Day Blind to me translates in to slight love song, if we read between the lines. It seems to me that this person, is in love with someone and wants them to escape this 'dead end town'. There is nothing else left for them and they seem to be struggling, which can also signify that these two are having problems in their relationship, they are taking each day as it comes and don't really know why they are. It is a song about breaking free from problems that have really hurt this individual, if we look at Hawkins personal life, we can also tell that he has had these kind of struggles and has broken free from them.

@sailorfruit Good summary. I know nothing about Justin & Dan's upbringing so no way to know if the song alludes to their growing up or not. Theres also a line in there that hints about an physically abusive authority figure (for once in my life..you don't get to touch me anymore). At first I assumed the use of 'touch' was referring to sexual abuse but 'touch' could very well be physical abuse ('hit' just doesn't work with the lyric).

Great song from a great album
