Forget and Follow

“You better not speak,”
That’s what I kept telling myself.
“You’re weak,
Just keep
All apologies shelved.”
I wish I would have been the bigger man
When I had the chance
But I took my time,
Only to find
My grudge
Far too much to hold
I wish somebody would’ve told me,
“Sometimes, letting go ain’t a bad thing.”
I’ve never heard of holding on setting anyone free.
Everybody knows,
There’s still hope, so,
Keep your head up,
Enough.
Times get tough.
But it shouldn’t take a tragedy
To inspire me to speak.
You are not a stranger
And you’re not at fault.
I was a coward who just couldn’t find a cause,
Just know that you belong.
And I guess that it’s a good thing
You’re not like me
You’re the victim
I’m the guilty
