Every Night Lyrics
I'm coming home to you
Every night every night every night every night
I'm the colorless sunrise
That's never good enough
I'm the wind that's in your head
It ruffles you up
You could find the reason
You could let me know
I won't blame you
I'll just turn and go
I'm coming home to you
Every night every night every night every night
Coming home to you
Every night every night every night every night
My mind is made up
My feelings changed and
I'm coming home to you
Every night every night every night every night
Searching to find myself
And all I find is you
I could hardly stand myself
So what am I to you?
You could find a reason
You could let me know
I won't blame you
I just didn't go
I'm coming home to you
Every night every night every night every night
Coming home to you
Every night every night every night every night
My mind is made up
My feelings changed and
I'm coming home to you
Every night every night every night every night
No matter, no matter
No matter what we're facing
It don't matter, it don't matter
'Cause the reason that I'm here
Is the same through all these years
Not changing, not changing anything at all
I'm coming home to you (I'm coming home)
Every night every night every night every night
Coming home to you (I'm coming home)
Every night every night every night every night
My mind is made up

I'm coming home to you (I'm coming home)

I don't know when/if songmeanings will correct these, so here are the correct lyrics (from the booklet) that I originally submitted and were somehow overwritten:
I'm coming home to you Every night... I'm the colorless sunrise That's never good enough I'm the wind that's in your hair That ruffles you up If you can find a reason You can let me know I won't blame you I'll just turn and go I'm coming home to you Every night... Coming home to you Every night... My mind is made up Nothing could change that I'm coming home to you Every night... Searching to find myself But all I find is you I can hardly stand myself So what am I to you? If you can find a reason You could let me know I won't blame you I'll just turn and go I'm coming home to you Every night... Coming home to you Every night... My mind is made up Nothing could change that I'm coming home to you Every night... No matter, no matter No matter what we're facing It don't matter, don't matter 'Cause the reason that I'm here Is the same through all these years Not changing, not changing Anything at all I'm coming home to you Every night... Coming home to you Every night... My mind is made up Nothing could change that I'm coming home to you Every night...
I think it's about a man who doesn't think someone loves him anymore and he's worth nothing, he states "I'm the wind that's in your hair" or, in other words in their life. He wants them to admit it to him, because he can't stand "coming home to... [them] ...every night." He doesn't understand why they won't tell him "you can let me know", "I'll turn and go." "My mind is made up" even if they won't tell him, he will stay with her. In the first verse he sounds agrviated, because he, again comes home to someone who doesn't love him. The background after "every night" and the instrumental hints drama. He understands why she is afraid, just like he is, because "all I find is you" they don't know what they'll be without each other. Finally he asks "so what am I to you?" "Why do I come home to you every night instead of leave?"I think the lover say that they need him. "No matter what were facing" or "it doesn't matter what we're facing" they need him there. "the reason that I'm here is the same through all these years" he realizes why he never left. That part and "not changing anything at all" is very upbeat, suggesting he is happy not changing, especially "my mind is made up nothing can change that'. So now he's happy coming home to them "every night".
If you've ever been depressed and in love with someone, there's always that voice in the back of your mind that you'll never be good enough for this person and that you're unloveable. You always doubt whether or not that person really loves you and you honestly wouldn't blame them if they didn't love you because you don't even love yourself ("I can hardly stand myself so what am I to you?").
Towards the end of the song I think that he realizes that this person really does love him for who he is and whatever life throws at them, he's going to stick with her through the good and the bad and will always come home to her ("No matter what we're facing, it don't matter").
Again that's my interpretation I could be completely off but there it is.
What I love about imagine dragons is every song has its own meaning for everyone.
The only song by Imagine Dragons that I absolutely cannot stand! I just hate it. Awful. Deleted it from the album and I am going to pretend that it never existed. Sorry if you like this, but I don't. Love ImagineD otherwise, though!
Would love to hear why and not just a proclamation of the fact. I accept that you don't like it, but I'm curious as to why.

I am also curious to why you hate it

This song just seems much more like "pop" than the others. It sticks out like a sore thumb on an otherwise excellent album. Redundant song with repetitive lyrics and a poor musical backing. Even his voice sounds more auto-tuned. Everything about this song is simply unappealing. I love Imagine Dragons because their lyrics are truthful and the songs are real. This one's about a guy lusting after a girl like every other boring song on the radio. No heart. No gut-wrenching truth here. Just sh*t.

Molly, it may seem like that on its own, but I think in the context of the rest of the album this song is much more than what you see on the surface. So much of this album is about struggling with anxiety and depression, and this song fits in with that.

At least in my experience...
At least in my experience with depression, so often you feel like you are worthless, not good enough, undeserving of love and filled with self-hatred. It seems to me that this song, like many of the others, is about a very specific part of the healing process. It's about slowly letting go of self-hatred and learning to accept the love of others (in this case, probably romantic love specifically). This isn't just a bland, pop-esque love song.
There have been so many times in romantic relationships that I have expressed to a lover that I know I'm worthless, and give them a chance to opt out of being with me because I don't want to inflict myself on them. That seems to be where this song is going, except that the chorus changes direction and shows that the narrator is making the commitment to accept love and be vulnerable.
I may be off, but that's how I interpret it.
