Liquid State

One of two songs on the album written by Chris about his struggle with alcoholism, the other being 'Save Me'. Chris said the song was 'written about the person you become when you're intoxicated and how the two of them are having this fight inside of you and it tears you apart'.

Best song on the album in my opinion. This has one of the other guys in the band singing (Chris.. thank you bckyltylr), which is rare usually it's Matthew.

It's pretty clear that this is about alcoholism, from what Chris has said, and how with an addiction you feel like you need it, and like it helps you, but then even when you've realized how bad it is for you, you can't quit, and you know even while it seems to help, it's, in fact, still hurting you and tearing you up inside.

But this could be applied to another situation, too, where a person takes the place of the drug/alcohol, with a similar situation. You feel like you need this person to keep going on with your life, and at first everything seems okay, for the most part, but then you realize that they're hurting you, but you can't leave because you think you need them.
