Traffic Lights Lyrics
My old friend, how has the city life been?
Did it go according to plan, or how you pictured it?
I've been here walking down dirt roads,
Wondering if I should be here, or of I'm meant to go?
But I’m not much for cities and traffic lights,
So tell me if it is worth the drive?
Then I'll come along
On this busy road
With you on my mind
We sit for a talk on your penthouse balcony,
As I look down at the floor, and stare at my nervous feet
We say all the lines I've already heard before,
"It's not you; it's me, and it's not the same anymore."
But I'm not much for cities and traffic lights
So I guess it wasn't worth the drive
So I'll head back home
On this lonely road
To where I belong
Did it go according to plan, or how you pictured it?
I've been here walking down dirt roads,
Wondering if I should be here, or of I'm meant to go?
So tell me if it is worth the drive?
Then I'll come along
On this busy road
With you on my mind
As I look down at the floor, and stare at my nervous feet
We say all the lines I've already heard before,
"It's not you; it's me, and it's not the same anymore."
So I guess it wasn't worth the drive
So I'll head back home
On this lonely road
To where I belong

Lewis' comments: "Most all of the lyrics of this song stemmed off the the second line of the opening verse and the first line of the chorus. My producer and I just kind of took the idea of tension between city and rural life and ran with it. Since this one in particular is so vague, I'd rather leave it open to interpretation for the listeners to decide for themselves."
