Yes Lyrics
I remember the clouds that day
And how the sun shined through anyways, anyways
Then I saw your face
And I knew,
I knew I was yours
We became the best of friends
We’d sit and laugh and tell jokes
About things we had read
Then you grabbed my hand
And my face turned a new shade of red
I remember our first date
And how I couldn’t find the right words to say, to say
And you understood
Then we knew,
We knew it was fate
Earlier this same day,
We were walking along and you
Caught me off-guard with a ring
On one knee
And I knew
I finally knew
What to say
And how the sun shined through anyways, anyways
Then I saw your face
And I knew,
I knew I was yours
We’d sit and laugh and tell jokes
About things we had read
Then you grabbed my hand
And my face turned a new shade of red
And how I couldn’t find the right words to say, to say
And you understood
Then we knew,
We knew it was fate
We were walking along and you
Caught me off-guard with a ring
On one knee
And I knew
I finally knew
What to say

Lewis' explanation: "This song is different than anything I've ever written.
It's certainly different musically, and one of the more complicated ones I've put out.
Lyrically, it's one of a kind, in that even I have no idea who it's about. There's only so many break-up songs, end of friendship songs, hope it work out songs, and corny love songs you can write before you get burned out and need something different.
Now, if I said I had originally set out to write such a confusing, yet crystal clear contradiction of a song, I'd be lying. Truthfully, I really just wanted to stomp, clap, and tap on things that aren't musical instruments with drumsticks. This song was spawned out of a moment of pure, whimsical mayhem.
What is it about? This song isn't about the one who got away, the one I left, or the one I would've liked to have been with. It isn't even about anyone I know (as far as I know... I could be wrong, after all).
For me, this is about the one who will win me over in the end. For others, this song is either the same meaning, or about the one who already has."
