Blood Lyrics

I hate you for the sacrifices you made for me
I hate you for every time you bled for me
I hate you for the way you smile when you look at me
I hate you for never taking control of me

I hate you for always saving me from myself
I hate you for always choosing me and not someone else
I hate you for always pulling me back from the edge
I hate you for ever kind word you ever said

(Blood)
Blood, blood, blood
Pour mud through my veins
Shut your dirty, dirty mouth
I'm not that insane
Blood, blood, blood
Pour mud through my veins
I'm a dirty, dirty girl
I want it filthy

I love you for everything you ever took from me
I love the way you dominate and you violate me
I love you for every time you gave up on me
I love you for the way you look when you lie to me

I love you for never believing in what I say
I love you for never once giving me my way
I love you for never delivering me from pain
I love you for always driving me insane

(Blood)
Blood, blood, blood
Pour mud through my veins
Shut your dirty, dirty mouth
I'm not that insane
Blood, blood, blood
Pour mud through my veins
I'm a dirty, dirty girl
I want it filthy

I hate you for every time you ever bled for me

I believe the message is how some girls... (yes I am a girl myself) How we tend to ignore/ take for granted those who love/ care for us the most and we tend to fall for the ones who mistreat us the most. But that it what I get from the lyrics.

It's just a way for us women to get over a man easier. This is really easy to understand, but hard to describe in text.

It's about a breakup that hurt her emotionally. She wants to be able to move on, but she's having a hard time doing so because she keeps thinking about all the good things he did. And so the good things he did pisses her off, because it's keeping her from forgetting him and moving on. Hence the "I hate you for...(all the good things you did that keep me wanting you back)" in the first part.

What makes it easier for us to say "screw you" and be able to move on, is focusing on the bad things a guy did or that we think he did, and getting pissed off about it. So in the second part, she loves him for all the crap she feels he did to her in the end, all the pain and suffering she feels the breakup has caused her, because it fuels her anger, which gives her strength to move on.

Song Meaning

UMM NO This is a common desire for those in the BDSM community. It's about mixing sex and pain and anger together all at once to get a rush of undiscribale feeling because pain are pleasure are the same thing just interpreted by the brain differently when this system is flooded with all the signals and emotions at once it creates a sense of euphoria. which is amazing that is what she wants pumped more thru her veins

@adriennexn You couldn’t be any further from the truth. The song has absolutely nothing to do with BDSM. That girl you so proudly told was wrong is actually correct. Listen to the song pal, watch the video and listen to her interviews and you’ll see you’re so, so wrong.

The song can be taken in many different ways. For me, because this is the way the lyrics have related to me. Is that this specific person treated her badly, and it was making it easy to walk away, but then had moments of being unbelievably reliable in which she clung to, therefore made it difficult to walk away. Maybe those moments of good were so rare, but that was what she looked forward to, even if for the most part things were horrible. That's just my take on it. Could be friendship/ or significant other.

I thought about it for a few months.. and to me this song is about someone who doesn't want people to do every thing for them, they can take the heat, pain, bumps in the roads.. etc themselves and doesn't want to be helped.. basically, they don't want everything handed to them, they don't mind fighting for what they want and/or believe in.. they're a strong and tough individual.. etc..

My Interpretation

I relate this song to myself a bit, because I believe it's sort of masochistic. If you look at it straight up without thinking deeply, she's singing about how she hates when he's good to her, and loves when he's horrible to her. He can abuse her and seemingly hate her but she sees it as love and wants more. It's a somewhat insane pleasure she gets from being abused.

My Interpretation

I think these lyrics are an inner dialogue of a person coming to terms with a higher power.

I think it's about being with someone she loves but who hurts her and eventually she is so tormented it drives her to resent the few kind things he does do for her (perhaps because it feels insincere from someone who has harmed her) and crave more of the abuse. Its about how the victim can come to feel they deserve what is happening to them and it changes their perception of what is normal in a relationship.

This is what the song says to me: The speaker is in a relationship in which she is controlled or manipulated by another person; she is dependent upon the other person’s needs or control while placing herself at a lower priority. She’s unable to accept positive forms of affection and caring in the first verse. She has low self-esteem, for whatever reason. The partner’s abuse is what she craves in the second verse. She’s addicted to the relationship, to the cycle of behavior. She struggles within herself. She hates her partner and wants to rage and assert herself, but she needs him/her at the same time. It is unclear whether she is addressing her partner or herself when she says, “Shut your dirty, dirty mouth, I'm not that insane,” but then retreats and tells the partner and/or herself, “I'm a dirty, dirty girl, I want it filthy.”

My Interpretation

Or perhaps it's about how she WANTS to hate and resent someone who she was hurt by and therefore resents and hates anything he does to make her forget what a monster she thinks he is.

Okay, well. Everyone has their own thoughts on what this song means. In my opinion, I think that it's about being in an unhealthy relationship that you're both happy and sad in. The man made her happy sometime but he hurt her a lot. Sometime she felt like he really cared and other times he felt like a stranger. I relate to this song a lot.
