Cry Like a Ghost Lyrics
All on my own, where I found you alone
You were caught up in somebody else's mess.
And yes, I drank all those drinks on my own,
My life's become some blurry little quest.
And the clock kept ticking slowly
And you leaned over to ask me
If I even had a clue where I was.
While I lie down on your wood floors
And my brain and body took course
And the night ended as though it never was
It all began to feel the same
I wanna know where they keep the rain
Sylvia, right back where you came from,
You're a pendulum, heartbroken and numb, but
Sylvia, no one's gonna tell you when enough's enough
Enough is enough
Sick to the bone on my steps to my home,
The moon shines through the drapery and leaves.
To hurt, to ignore, everyone on my own,
But you love just to feel some made up breeze
But as my body crumble, you walked as I just stumble
We spoke only of things made in my head.
You never once controlled me, what all the others told me
But if I kept on going I'd be dead.
It's not just you that they blame
Now tell me where they keep the rain
Sylvia, right back where you came from,
You're a pendulum, heartbroken and numb, but
Sylvia, no one's gonna tell you when enough's enough
Enough's always too tough.
See what I've done now, I don't understand
She says I'm screaming and I'd raise my hand.
But I never meant to, wasn't even there,
I never meant to, I would never dare.
Sylvia, right back where you came from,
You're a pendulum, heartbroken and numb, but
Sylvia, no one's gonna tell you when enough's enough
Enough's always too tough.

I don't think so… I've watched some of Michael Angelakos's interview's and found that in a point in time where his life revolved around alcohol and the such (a messy time in short), there were friends of his that encouraged his bad habits and definitely did not help.
That makes perfect sense because Slyvia may be the one out of hand, the one guiding him that way. "No one's gonna tell you when enough's enough," and "But as my body crumbled, you walked as I just stumbled." When he talks about hurting this girl, I think he means his girlfriend, not Sylvia, but this part I'm not sure.
The licensed lyrics that replaced mine are horrible (the second verse especially..) so:
All on my own, where I found you alone You were caught up in somebody else's mess And yes, I drank all those drinks on my own My life’s become some blurry little quest
And the clock kept ticking slowly, and you leaned over to ask me If I even had a clue where I was Well I lied down your wood floors, and my brain and body took course In the night and then, as though it never was
It all began to feel the same I want to know where they keep the rain
Sylvia, right back where you came from You’re a pendulum, heartbroken and numb but Sylvia, no one’s gonna tell you when enough’s enough Enough is enough
Sick to the bone on the steps to my home The moon shined through the drapery of leaves To her, to ignore everyone on my own My true love, just to feel some made up breeze
But as my body crumbled, you walked as I just stumbled And we spoke only of things made in my head You never once controlled me what all the others told me, That if I kept on going, I’d be dead
It’s not just you who felt the pain Now tell me where they keep the rain
Sylvia, right back where you came from You’re a pendulum, heartbroken and numb but Sylvia, no one’s gonna tell you when enough’s enough Enough’s always too tough
See what I’ve done now, I don’t understand She says I screamed and that I raised my hand but I never meant to, wasn’t even there I never meant to, I would never dare

I think this song is told from the perspective of an alcoholic, who's in some sort of a relationship(dating, possibly just a friendship) with this girl(Sylvia). He's recalling how she's helped him through his drunken nights, the song even seems to suggest that they met at a party. The last verse sounds like on one particular night,he was so wasted that he hit her, without really meaning to.In the chorus I think he's talking about how she's putting too much pressure on herself, that she needs to let him go and start to enjoy her life.
I'm not sure about the "now tell me where they keep the rain" part tho
I agree with your interpretation.
I agree with your interpretation.
I think the "rain" is a reference to liquid = liquor/alcohol. In a reference to his alcoholism, he can't help but to seek out another drink even in the midst of reassuring Silvia that it's not something she should worry about.

I think Silvia is a drug. Drugs are a pendulum they always end up coming back around. "Clock ticking slowly".. "brain and body took course".. This is the only reason I can think of how he arrived at the idea he wants to know "where they keep the rain". He could mean the "reign". Mind-altering drugs have you searching for answers in your own head sometimes. "You spoke only of things made in my head" is why, "you never once controlled me". People often tell you that mind-altering drugs will take over your life and control you. "But if I kept on going I'd be dead." This, however, is true, probably. During this story he might be drunk as well. "See what I've done...I Never meant to I wasn't even there" clearly points out that he was under some influence where he doesn't remember what he was doing. "Ignoring everyone" and "just to feel some made up breeze" is definitely what it is like on drugs, you are alone just to have your own experience and it may not even exist in this reality, like a made up breeze that you trip on. "Enough is always too tough" is quitting the drug. That is why he is heartbroken. I have gone through the same experience myself. I connect to all of Passion Pit's lyrics in some way. They are very educated and I feel as if they understand what it could take to turn this planet around. Thanks for reading.
I personally think that the Sylvia being mentioned in this song is a friend in Michael's life. Michael (lead singer of passion pit) has mentioned in interviews, as someone else on here has stated, that he has had a rough time with alcohol and bipolar disorder. In these interviews it is also said that bad people surrounded him in this time encouraging bad behaviour. I think this song is about one of those people, and he is singing about how he has someone in his life to tell him to slow down, but she doesn't. And this is his way of describing these friendships. Particularly to 'Sylvia'. Interview mentioned: http://pitchfork.com/features/cover-story/8893-rite-of-passion/2/
Silvia, right back where you came from, you're a pendulum, heartbroken in number.
