I think that this song is definitely to his wife, about why he doesn't really want to write a song about her. Because, if I tell all these people too much about how I feel about you, what do I have left to give to you? And what's left only between us? I think it's really beautiful.
hands down my favorite song on the album. really hits a personal cord - about not wanting to reveal too much of yourself, of your story. about the fear of the emptiness that can come from divulging all of your demons and joys to others. love love love love love it.

Now that TGA is on indefinite hiatus, and this was their second-to-last album, I think this has everything to do with him not wanting to write such personal songs anymore, because he feels like he's telling everything about himself and won't have anything left to tell to the people who are closest to him.
