Saltkin Lyrics

there’s a cult inside of me
form a salt sprinkle it around me
there’s a cult inside of me
form a salt sprinkle it around me

sleep is a welcome gadget
in our headbondhood
the crawling animals will seek
all things warm all things moist
I will relentlessly shame myself
in rest in wake in front of
my truly born beloved
for here I lie in wait
hush little heart

steal my sweating lips
wield my starving hips
there’s a cult inside of me
form a salt sprinkle it around me

into a bright bound sea surrounded fury
our bodies will return
into a bright bound sea surrounded fury
our bodies will return
into a bright bound sea surrounded fury
our bodies will return

the creeper’s blood is seeping
from this undead wooden headboard
varnish my forehead red in evening
drip down over my jowls
bid them writhe and sprout their
heavy feathers lift my drooping heart

there’s a cult inside of me
form a salt sprinkle it around mee

into a bright bound sea surrounded fury
our bodies will return
into a bright bound sea surrounded fury
our bodies will return
into a bright bound sea surrounded fury
our bodies will return

there’s a cult inside of me
form a salt sprinkle it around me
there’s a cult inside of me
form a salt sprinkle it around me

I think it's got a strong sexual/carnal theme to it. I love to compare this song to a transformation, like a werewolf or some other supernatural change.

There's a cult, there's a cult inside of me Form a salt, sprinkle it around me - Salt keeps away the supernatural... Her desire isn't normal. Its extreme to the point where she feels like she's possessed or ready to mutate.

sleep is a welcome gadget in our headbondhood the crawling animals will seek all things warm all things moist I will relentlessly shame myself in rest in wake in front of my truly born beloved for here I lie in wait hush little heart

The animals seeking out moist/warm thing sounds to me like people or beings seeking out things to feed on or pleasure themselves with. She found her victim/partner and is waiting. Shame because she's on the hunt, she can't control herself.

the creeper's blood is seeping from this undead wooden headboard varnish my forehead red in evening drip down over my jowls bid them writhe and sprout their heavy feathers lift my drooping heart

I don't have a really strong theory on this verse but I would say it's somehow part of the kill and her heart is heavy with remorse after the event/attack.I think the "creeper's blood" is hers, but like the last verse said, she's ashamed so she won't even call it her own blood.

into a bright bound sea surrounded fury our bodies will return

"Our bodies will return" sounds like that rest period after great sex or some kind of snap back to reality/human form. The first line makes it sound like a graphic and powerful change.

That's all I really have for now... All in all, I'm leaning more towards a werewolf theme. But most of the other songs on the album have some real life attachment to them so this is just my imagination.

You did a great job with these lyrics. The only discrepancy I have is minor: "Form a salt"

These are some interesting lyrics (like all their songs) i'm really hoping people will voice some opinions on the meaning.

To me, "The crawling animals will seek all things from all things moist." sounds more like, "The crawling animals will seek all things warm, all things moist."

Still my sweating lips wield my starving hips

This line sounds like her body just continues to go and work. At rest she feels guilty/shameful that she is not working, and though she knows she needs to give herself time to revive, she pushes herself.

Into a blood-bound, cease rounded fury our bodies will return

She fears she will lose her physical self if she does not continue this mortal task of physical exertion. It's a cease rounded fury; once again, she is surrounded by reasons to stop, yet the fury inside drives her.

My Interpretation

Here's what I got from it hope it helps....

"There's a cult, there's a cult inside of me Form the salt, sprinkle it around me There's a cult, there's a cult inside of me Form the salt, sprinkle it around me"

Salt is a way that our bodies get rid of impurities, in this song salt is a metaphor for getting rid of the impurities that has been instilled into our minds about death

"sleep is a welcome gadget in our head bond hood the crawling animals will seek all things warm all things moist I will relentlessly shame myself in rest in wake in front of my truly born beloved for here I lie in wait hush little heart"

Sleep is a transition being well ground (down to earth-humble) you'll be able to find foundation.Warm, moist soil is great for planting seeds and letting it grow (water is the foundation for all things living) Continuing without pause or interruption (wake) causes distress that will weigh heavily on the mind/spirits because you reap what you sow. This is caused by the consciousness of wrong or foolish behavior. Not being under the control or in the power of another is free will (choice) To except death is to experience the direct communion with all that is one

"steal my sweating lips wield my starving hips there's a cult inside of me form a salt sprinkle it around me

Salt helps the decaying process because it can dry things out. Sweating is when salt leaves the body therefore you must ingest more salt because the body needs it. plants include just enough sodium that our body needs to survive "Steal my sweating lips wield my starving hips" means, take my craving manage my hunger for what is to come

"the creeper's blood is seeping from this undead wooden headboard varnish my forehead red in evening drip down over my jowls bid them writhe and sprout their heavy feathers lift my drooping heart"

Out of death comes life disapproval and criticism of this behavior and actions causes sadness and depression so at the end you must let go and let sleep carry you slowly by a current that will lessens the pain from resistance to lift your low spirits

"into a bright bound sea surrounded fury our bodies will return"

make light of the situation So that beings may still exist

there's a cult inside of me form a salt sprinkle it around me..............................................

Megan and Corin's song Fineshrine is "just a love song," She says in one interview. Where as, the person giving the interview thought it was about someone forcing something on someone else.

So don't go to in depth with what the song might mean. The lyrics come out of her journals, too, so the song is probably a reference to something personal, something many of us won't be able to identify. Especially it that personal thing is specific to her own life, and not something that a lot of young girls can connect to (puberty, growing up, love and sex).

this song is talking about how she is devoted to her lover, cant wait for him to return to her in the evening...the cult is her devotion, the salt is from the sweat...

sleep is a welcome thing when they share sexual intimacy, the closeness is awesome, and she sees it as natural animal instinct to seek the wet and warm thing, or physical love...she is so comfortable around him she can be naked or shamed any time any where and it doesnt matter, she trusts him, cant wait for him to come home but she has to quiet her heart, but she knows once he comes home, then they will be entangled in the sheets and sweat again...she wants him to steal her lips, and wield her hips...this is natural for her to long for...

the next verse is kinda tricky, but basically it is a reference to minecraft, so she is playng video games in the dark to pass time waiting for him to come home, the screen casts colors across her face, as she plays into the night and bids her pillow lift her heart since she is waiting impatiently, thinking about being entangled in the sheets til he returns...

so anyway, i see this as the natural mindset of a woman in love with her man and really wanting him to return home so she can have that sexual intimacy with him again...nothing dirty or wicked about it, its just natural and normal, ask any woman who has been there...i especially saw this kind of behavior in one of my ex girlfriends all the time...in fact almost all of them did the same to one degree or the other...the one exception was my ex-wife...she was an ice queen...

"sleep is a welcome gadget in our head bond hood the crawling animals will seek all things warm all things moist I will relentlessly shame myself" Definitely getting some form of carnal vibe here, not sure what quite yet. Until: "steal my sweating lips wield my starving hips there’s a cult inside of me form a salt sprinkle it around me" Alright, seems like the basis to a pretty straightforward love song. Not so much crude as twisted in my personal theory, as I got from the few recurring themes here: "the creeper’s blood is seeping from this undead wooden headboard varnish my forehead red in evening drip down over my jowls bid them writhe and sprout their heavy feathers lift my drooping heart" Looking over the whole thing again, I can't shake the thought of necrophilia, especially after rereading the first quotations. Seems (obviously) somewhat cult-like if it is, too.
