One time me and my friend were driving around listening to this song and he noted how the overall tone of the song was very cheeky and sappy. That made me think that the song is Zachary Cole Smith saying sarcastically "how long have you known?" as a response to the people in the world who feel like or act like they have it all figured out. It's really easy living day to day to get lost, upset, and depressed at how conflicting and confusing the world is and I think Zachary Cole Smith feels that too and is kinda giving the finger to the people who pretend they aren't scared by these feelings.
