Backstreet Lovers Lyrics
Razor tea-cups and tip top craic
of the crooked, Backstreet Lovers and sons
Lawless law men walk the streets of
Dirty meadows of foul mouthed mothers and guns
Brick blacked-up kids mugged me the day I
ran off with your sister
a young school maid, caught up in a world of
Backstreet Lovers.
Lovers and sons, I waved her away to a friend
at least that's what she said.
Rotting teeth of a grubby gran
fill the alleys of the stolen roll-ups and blunts
a skin-head dad came cap in hand
with a duster and flash of switch blade fun
still on the dole, though the picket was broken
a soiled age ago.
But he's caught up, caught up in a world of
Backstreet Lovers
Lovers and sons, I waved her away to a friend
at least that's what she said
tangled in the roots and tangled in the weeds
of a concrete jungle came that girl from Leeds
in torn dress and tights,
she ain't no slag.
i won her over with a '40 bag.

I damn love this song but it is relly hard for me to understand it 'cause there's a lot of slang, basically drugs and weed. Razor tea-cups - tea-cups are good times, but what does razor mean? Lawless law men walk the streets of dirty meadows of foul mouthed mothers and guns - these words mean nothing to me altogether Brick blacked-up kids - blacked up is 'bout skin colour. isn't it? but what does brick mean? Rotting teeth of a grubby gran - that must have some undermeaning with a duster and flash of switch blade fun - what is a duster in this very case and what has a flash to do with a knife? picket was broken soiled age ago - is a special picket meant here, and how long ago was it, soiled age ago)? '40 bag - is it full of weed?
If you see this, please spen a minute of your time, i can't sleep at night wondering what all this means.
"Lawless law men walk the streets of dirty meadows of foul mouthed mothers and guns" - probably means Police or law enforcement walking through the english version of what we call ghettos (where people are rude and dirty) and wanting either drugs or prostitutes.

"Brick blacked-up kids" is probably kids high on or using black tar heroin or kids that are dirty and have been beaten with bricks

"Rotting teeth of a grubby gran" probably just refers to the dirtiness of the place and the lack of self-respect and care its inhabitants have

"with...
"with a duster and flash of switch blade fun" The duster is a long coat kind of like a trench coat and the flash of switchblade fun probably means he is trying to fool and scare people or threaten them with the knife (this man is kinda like a stereotypical maniac)
"picket was broken soiled age ago" the picket is a fence, and you know how white picket fences usually represent a house in a nice neighborhood with a picture perfect family inside, well that white picket fence was broken ( and most likely it is dirty and not white anymore, paint peeling ext..) a soiled age ago just means a long time ago, the whole phrase means that the place has deteriorated and has been left in shambles (it is now a slum), whereas along time ago it might have been nice
a 40' Refers to a bag of weed that costs $40
Hi, IluhaRus, you just need to let your imagination fly...
-Razor tea-cups: I see dangerous fun times. -Lawless law men: policemen without qualms -walk the streets of dirty meadows: patrolling suburbs streets, near the countryside, outside the big city. -of foul mouthed mothers and guns: dangerous suburbs with low education people. -Brick blacked-up kids: Those old english industrial towns, with soot covered bricks, where kids playing on the streets get their dirty faces. -Rotting teeth of a grubby gran: she's a granny... -duster: gabardine, but like from the far west. -flash of switch blade fun: a switchblade is retractable, when it springs, the blade reflects the light, you can see it immediately... and it's fun for mobsters, as you see in West Side Story "fight dance". -picket was broken soiled age ago: the knife tip broke so long long ago... -40 bag: maybe the big beer belly that many men have at their 40s.
Those are my 2 cents, trying to think out of my Spanish box!
