somewhere there would be the guys, sitting and smiling at our interpretations , i always wonder what inspires them to write such good songs. some point in life, we all go through such traumas, where the near future seems very dim.

how many of us do really understand what it is like to see a whole army,falling, one by one... how small and conceited is our thinking, the whole life passes and we dont really learn anything.

i think this is the best song on this great new album :)

so heres my interpretation (sry for my bad english :S)

i think this song might be about taking drugs and feeling bad about the own life.

this could be about how the drugs didnt work the way he wished and about the rehab

i thinks that this song is about the this because linkin parks singer and songwriter chester bennington had problems with drugs

The first time I heard this song I immediately related to it; here's my interpretation.

Pretty much the same as in the first stanza

The song could be about dying to the self/ego, where the person left behind is the remains. This might be called enlightenment, second birth. The person has died but still walks the earth, like a fallen angel. More realizations happen every day "like an army falling one by one" Silence (as in meditation) is the sanctuary that washes away the remaining attachments.

One of my favorite songs by these guys, and I relate to this, but here we go. I'm going to label each part as 1, 2, 3, etc. so hang on while I explain since I can't summarize this baby. ;)

1. Getting out of this drama/situation/whatever you want to call it. While getting out of this, he/she is trying to find answers on why and whatnot in their mental pain and fear. He/she is not physically broken but is mentally messed up. Still, this person is trying to find happiness despite what has happened.

2. Just now I realized I don't have time so let me speed though this. This person is broken and but wants everything bad as he/she has seen to be gone from the surface of the Earth.

3. almost the same as #!, but he/she addresses that he/she knows what the other did to them.

In the interlude or whatever you call it (like an army...) I saw it as the person who's hurting's others realization that this is going to slap him/her in the face.

Wish I had more time to explain but that gets the gist.

I think that this song is about a person dying to blood loss. "I can't concentrate" is a symptom of lack of oxygen in the brain, "fear and pain" is fear of death and pain from the wound, "waiting for a chance to feel alive" is hope to survive, and i'm too lazy to break down the whole song, but you get my point

Sucks.
