Alive Lyrics

Ice, shock, tremble in my chains
Waiting for your hands to light me up again!
Tick-tock, longing for the pain
Plug me in, turn me on, connect me to the mains!
Shock me! Shock, shock, I want it
Cut me! Up, up into man size
Give me, the perfect body
Wake me, up, up!
I'll be your dream tonight

I feel you're coming down tonight
There's power in your hands tonight!
There's power in your hands
to give me life
To give me life tonight
My heart's in my mouth and it's time
Release me and open my eyes
I'm ready tonight and I feel alive
Alive, alive, alive, alive…
And it feels so good!

Ice, hot, running through my veins
You are the doctor playing with my brain
And the knife cuts sweetly through the pain
Plug me in, turn me on, connect me to the mains!
Cut me, operator
Cut me just right!
Put me back together
Do what you like!
Oh, please operator, deeper inside
Operator, I'll be your dream tonight!

I feel you're coming down tonight
There's power in your hands tonight!
There's power in your hands to give me life
To give me life tonight
My heart's in my mouth and it's time
Release me and open my eyes
I'm ready tonight and I feel alive
Alive, alive, alive, alive…
And it feels so good!

This song has three different contexts that pop into my head. The first is that the song is the relationship between a drug dealer and addict. She is contantly craving the feelings that go along with being high (shock, ice, hot). It also says "I feel you coming down" which can refer to the coming down from a high. The parts about veins can refer to drugs such as heroin, which are injected into your vain. The second idea I had was that it's about plastic surgery. She refers to an operator, and to wanting the perfect body via cutting her up. "I'll be your dream tonight" can show that she wishes to be the doctors "art" in a sense. There are also several Frankenstein type references, such as chains, shock and hypothetical cutting up and recreating someone. The third is more obscure but can be interpreted as something sexual. Saying that it makes her feel "alive" and talking about how good it feels can relate to this. She also mentions about the operator (her partner) going deeper inside, which can be taken in that manner. I don't know how accurate these are, but that's how I see the song as.
