All In My Head Lyrics

I woke
to the sound
of a single note
ringing out
and I thought
thought you had left me
I thought you’d disappeared
It was sadder than any song
that I’d ever heard

But now I know it was all in my head
all in my head
All this time
it was all in my head
all in my head

I walked
every street
Searched every lonely bar where
you might be
I thought
I’d never find you
I thought all was lost
It was sadder than any song
that I’d ever heard

But now I know it was
all in my head
all in my head
All this time it was all in my head
All in my head

I finally found you
Deep in my heart you’d been hiding out
I didn’t know the dark night of my soul had been blacking you out

It was all in my head
all in my head
All this time
it was all in my head
all in my head
All this time
it was all in my head
all in my head…

i love these lyrics.

I think the songwriter lost someone, she thought that she was going to be with. But, something prevented it from happening. She was so stunned, that it didn't seem real. But reality hit and she is awake. But she is hoping that something will change fate.

She sings this song, hoping that it was all in her head. She wants this to be the ending. She is hoping that it will be all in her head.

My Interpretation

My interpretation is that they lost someone very close to them and they are kind of in denial they feel like if they just keep looking they'll find the person eventually. In the end they do find the person but not where they had been looking they found them inside themselves. Their grief had blocked them from view even though they were always there "the night in my soul had been blacking you out". The all in my head represents their denial and their pain because the person who died wouldn't have wanted it.
