From what I can guess, the song seems to be a sort of message from Max's dead wife and daughter, telling him to finally move on from grieving their deaths for the past ten years.
And they fail at it. The message in the second and last verses becomes more muddled, as if Max's guilt and alcoholic haze is fighting off his loved ones voices ("It's time to let me never let go"). Also, are the lyrics confirmed? I'm almost sure it's "Follow were your memories are wrong".

I love this song, I could just sit and vibe out to it all day.
To me, it's like a message from Michelle to Max. Telling him to leave the past behind him and let go of the grief.
But just as Ghostiet, said in a comment, it seems Max is battling againt it.
It feels something like this Michelle: "It's time to let me..." Max: "never let go"
The song really fits the grief-stricken Max.
