And all I am is a man
I want the world in my hands
I hate the beach
But I stand in California with my toes in the sand
Use the sleeves of my sweater
Let's have an adventure
Head in the clouds but my gravity centered
Touch my neck and I'll touch yours
You in those little high waisted shorts, oh

Oh, she knows what I think about
And what I think about
One love, two mouths
One love, one house
No shirt, no blouse
Just us, you find out
Nothing that I wouldn't wanna tell you about, no
'Cause it's too cold
For you here
And now, so let me hold
Both your hands in the holes of my sweater

And if I may just take your breath away
I don't mind if there's not much to say
Sometimes the silence guides a mind
To move to a place so far away
The goosebumps start to raise
The minute that my left hand meets your waist
And then I watch your face
Put my finger on your tongue 'cause you love to taste, yeah
These hearts adore, everyone the other beats hardest for
Inside this place is warm
Outside it starts to pour

Coming down
One love, two mouths
One love, one house
No shirt, no blouse
Just us, you find out
Nothing that I wouldn't wanna tell you about, no, no, no
'Cause it's too cold
For you here
And now, so let me hold
Both your hands in the holes of my sweater

'Cause it's too cold
For you here
And now, so let me hold
Both your hands in the holes of my sweater

Whoa, whoa, whoa

Whoa, whoa, whoa
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa
Whoa, whoa
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa
Whoa, whoa

'Cause it's too cold
For you here
And now, so let me hold
Both your hands in the holes of my sweater

It's too cold
For you here
And now, let me hold
Both your hands in the holes of my sweater

And it's too cold, it's too cold
The holes of my sweater

    My Interpretation

Is it possible this song revolves around the speaker admitting that they are currently in a relationship of infidelity?

SHE knows what I think about...just US, YOU find out. Nothing that we don't wanna tell you about.

At first listen, it sounded like a cute song but after listening to it a few times, it sounds more like a confessional. There's a You and there's a She and I think they're different people. He's having a relationship on the side and he's telling "you" that it's too cold here; he can't offer her his sweater, but he can offer her a place in the holes of his sweater.

She's getting somebody else's leftovers. Am I off?

    My Interpretation

My interpretation of the song is that he is emotionally cold and quiet person but also a man of action, he communicates through his actions. He can't just come out and be all romantic but by his body language the girl he loves knows how much he wants to be with her and his actions toward her are warm considering his cold exterior.

    My Interpretation

I personally don't think this song is about infidelity. This is because he says

"One love, two mouths One love, one house No shirts, no blouse Just us, you find out"

This chorus I think is specifically talking about him and the woman he desires. Also he says in another verse,

"These hearts adore, everyone the other beat heart is for"

I think he's saying their hearts beat for each other.

To me this song is about him offering all that he has to this woman, even if it's not much, "Both your hands in the holes of my sweater"

    My Interpretation

I think that this song is about being unprepared to love another person because of the heavy depression weighting down on ones own life. He says that inside it is warm but outside it's ice cold. The depression is so overbearing that it is too cold to love another.

Use the sleeves of my sweater, let's have an adventure. He's using the pieces of strength he has to enjoy his time with her.

Head in the ground but gravity centered means that she takes him away but he still has those problems.

She knows what I'm thinkin about. And what I'm thinkin about is one love one house one love two mouths no shirt no blouse. He wants a love that is committed and means something between only the two of them and includes a sexual component but

Nothing that I really wanna tell you about no. He doesn't want her to know how pained he is when she isn't there to take it away.

I think this is a very sexy song and that references suggest that their sexual chemistry is wonderful but that he is afraid to put anything more down because of his own personal issues. Just my thought. I can definitely relate to this.

    My Interpretation

I take the song more literally. All the words describe a young summer love; reminds me of mine this summer. Just a guy letting his hormones get the best of him and being with his girl.

    My Interpretation

He wants a woman he can't have. He's singing to her.

She knows he wants her and there's an obvious mutual attraction but nothing can happen due to the situation... he'll settle with holding her hands in the holes of his sweater.

This song has nothing to do with a threesome or women. It's one woman he wants that he can't have.

--->Oh, she knows what I think about And what I think about One love, two mouths (him and her) One love, one house (him and her) No shirts, no blouse Just us, you find out (he wants her to be curious) Nothing I really wanna tell you about no 'Cause it's too cold whoa For you here And now, so let me hold whoa Both your hands in the holes of my sweater

    General Comment

Shes means the world to him and he wants an excuse to hold her hands. So he takes her someplace cold and when she gets cold offers to hold her hands and to warm her.

The line should be: These hearts adore everyone the other beats heart is for.

Meaning he can hear her heartbeat and he adores her and she adores him.

    My Interpretation

Well there could be multiple meanings to this song. but heres mine.

hes in the states (there a british group) for a little bit. hes with a girl, he doesnt like the beach but he wants to make her happy. and when he says all i am is a man i want the word in my hands. Hes meaning he wants everything to go his way and to do everything he wants. then hes describing his lust for this girl. the she knows what i think about part is her sensing his intense sexual attraction. and when he goes on about it hes stating their fantasies they had together, and the fantasies he has of her.

the chorus is just about finding comfort in a storm, making the best of things. finding somewhere warm.

the second verse is about being really comfortable around her. even when its sileant and awkward. "These hearts adore everyone other beats heart is for" Stating they like each other. And then saying this fantasy is nice, but his real reality for her is ice cold.

So I think this songs about an affair he had with this girl. and this songs about her, he cant do much for her, but he can try and comfort her and hold her hands in the hole of his sweater. This is just my interpretation.

    Song Meaning

It's clear he doesn't have a high opinion himself when he says,"I'm just a man." He is also from modest means (he has holes in his sweater). He is asking for this woman to accept him as he is, and she can read his mind. Both hearts are warm, and they are warm for one another. They have one love and two mouths, alluding to a spiritual connection through the act of kissing. He wants to hold her, warm, her, and take care of her.

This song is very much about a man loving a woman and wanting to care for her.

Like a lot of the other comments are saying, I think this mainly about voyeurism. If the song was about his girlfriend, then why would he use the word spy. If you are a spy it means you shouldn't be caught, that is kind of the whole point, and if you are a voyeur, the whole point of the pleasure you get from it, is the fact that the other people don't know you are watching them. See a bit of a connection there?

Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.
