I love this song... I think the lyrics on the second verse are actually: I'm the only one that makes a sound When I know the plane is going down.
I could be very wrong; she sings beautifully but the accent plus the operatic style make it difficult to understand her sometimes.

For me, this song is about growing up and having the feelings neglected.

It's like she's telling someone how bad she's feeling about being alone, or anything else, and this person just say it's bullshit.

Acquiring knowledge is good, growing up is bad because when you become adult you have to deal with responsibilities you hadn't before, and somehow you're forced to desensitize yourself to do all the things you're now forced to do, and it makes you become a miserable person.

She's crying because she's sad, but the person keeps on ignoring it. She's feeling dependent on this person, so she pretends she's ok, because she knows that if she tells him/her what's bothering her on their relationship, this person will leave her, and she wouldn't stand it.
The title of the song is a metaphor that tells us to appreciate the people who really care about us. We usually lick the things that tastes good for us. lol And the 'handshake' is a symbol of empathy. That's all.
I'd like to add, the last line that gets repeated several times is "I'm not the one you need."
