If I Equals U Lyrics
play with puzzles
watch you solve them
jump in puddles
then you drain them
leap from airplanes
look, you've caught me
sell my talents
but you've bought me
picked a book up
you spoil the ending
take a loan out
you do the lending
write an essay
then critique it
have a secret
until you leak it
(you are too young)
i haven't lived a day in my life
(my little one)
i haven't lived a day in my life
(if i were you)
i haven't lived a day in my life
(i wouldn't do)
how are you, son?
how are you, son?
as every constellation
floats in constant rotation
(how are you, son?)
i haven't lived a day in my life
(how are you, son?)
i haven't lived a day
it's that sacred time again
to recreate ourselves in kin
go to church
and give the sermon
can't confess cause
i'm already forgiven
watch you solve them
jump in puddles
then you drain them
leap from airplanes
look, you've caught me
sell my talents
but you've bought me
you spoil the ending
take a loan out
you do the lending
write an essay
then critique it
have a secret
until you leak it

i haven't lived a day
to recreate ourselves in kin

i'm already forgiven

I think it's "recreate ourselves again" rather than "souls within"
Also, do you have any idea what the quiet, background whispers are saying at the beginning? It sounds to me like "We like to..." or "Like ya to..." Something along those lines.
Thanks for the correction! I must have listened to that line a hundred times but the last few words kinda get drowned out.

As for the whisper parts, I noticed something too but couldn't figure it out. Could just be some echoes from the reverb and delay on the vocals. Good ear though!!

Thanks for keeping this updated :) So a couple more minor corrections. I found them from this link that another user posted on the lyrics I'd transcribed for other songs on this album : http://www.ramonafalls.com/ReadProphet.txt
Considering it comes from the official Ramona Falls website, I'm assuming it's legit (although there are a couple instances in other songs of some very slight variations between what Brent wrote and what he actually sang in the studio.)
Anyhow, to save you some time here are the few corrections I found: "I'd sell my talents" rather than "tell my talents" and "To recreate ourselves in kin" rather than "again"
That second little change is quite telling. The idea of trying to "recreate" yourself through your child (basically to live vicariously through them) really summarizes this whole song for me. The more I listen, the more I feel this is my favorite of the entire album.
Lyrics have been updated. Thanks again for the input. The meaning certainly does come around full circle with that last change. At times it seems like a child being alternately grateful and frustrated at parental guidance or perhaps a parent trying to live vicariously through his or her offspring. Or maybe both...

Sounds like a kid growing up trying to understand the world. Trying to figure it out they are constantly reinforced on how to see the world by adults. To end up repeating the process.
This part sticks out. "You are too young" Sounds like the excuse an adult would use to tell a kid. Rather than giving them a formal reason to not do something.
"I haven't lived a day in my life" indicates the reasoning or understanding that one has come to. That final moment when all is realized. "You told me to live this way but, that isn't always the way it always is."
