I think this song is about being afraid of love or life. I don't have any definite conclusions about what the reflections/intentions/recollections/possession verse is all about, but the narrator seems to be describing someone who is worrying that the connection they're feeling with someone/something is actually a result of some projection? The end has to be one of the most beautiful moments on the new album... The narrator saying, "it's deeper than you and me" is his assurance that despite what's going on being hard to explain and unreal-feeling, it is real, love being a current that runs through everything, farther, deeper, in all the glass... Ok, that's my interpretation. I can't wait to see what other fans write!

The song could represent a personal/spiritual awakening paired with the fear that is experienced throughout that process. In a more literal sense, the song describes someone's own awakening occurring while looking at their reflection in the mirror; in a deeper sense, however, it illustrates the frightening journey of deep self-reflection followed by suppressed memories flooding into conscious view.

That's just one of many meanings I could ascribe to this song. One of the core reasons why I love Beach House so much - each and every one of their songs can have so many interpretations/meanings ascribed to them depending on the angle one views them from.

I think this is saying that she is in love with someone, and she is waiting for the person to find her, to notice her.

this can mean that she met this person when they had a lot of violence in their lives.

This person in moving on from the violent environment in which they are both from, where they both met and bonded. The person is going on ahead. She is happy that he is leaving but she doesn't want to be left alone. She wants the person to move on and do great things, but she wants to be there with him. So she can't help and tell him to stay, even though she wants him to go.

She is reassuring him, because the person's frightened eyes is saying that they are scared to move on

She is going over all the memories that they have gone through. they have developed this deep relationship/friendship, and now that the person is leaving, its as if their taking the memories along with them. the person says that these thoughts that shes having, is not real.

Its deeper than a bond between one person and another because they are both from this place where there is much violence. They developed an important relationship sparked by the environment in which they are from.

Shes telling them that the place is going is far, she is asking them if its too much to ask because she is asking them to stay.

The person is scared, which is why she is saying that it's all in a glace. She's encouraging them to leave, because later on that part of their lives will be something minor that happened. It won't be anything significant.

the (tower) to me is a tarot card reference which usually has to do with the ego, the tower card is shown crumbling and in disrepair mostly. yr ego is always being destroyed only for you to build it back up again. this happens over n over, can happen in a matter of minutes hours or whatever. To me its a song about self reflection, doubt that ego is the true self, fear of what the ego can do to the soul.(spinning in a field) sounds like when the tower is falling and ( all yr recollections) is you desperately trying to keep it together on the way down.( frightened eyes) is your seeing soul seeing yr ego. IDK when i hear Victoria n her words i get a early pagan/pre christian/high priestess vibe . im sure that i am stretching here but hey im probably on some trip and Beach house is filling the "artist in which i desperately need to feel connected in my fantasy/escapism wtf reality that ive gotten my self into:)" void perfectly.

I think this song is about the intensity and complexity that accompanies a deep love and soul connection between two people. In this situation one person is open to expressing their love and is hoping that the other will embrace the love, while the other person is attempting to shield themselves from the power of this love by running away and acting cold and distant, hence the "change your mind, don't care about me."

"Made in your reflection so that you can feel": this is insinuating a soul connection, whereby soulmates recognise each other and reflect each other as they are made for each other.

There is also an emphasis on eyes and glances in this song, "frightened eyes, looking back at me," ... "it's all in the glance you'll see." As they say, eye's are the windows to the soul.

'Violence in the flower where they found you': this is about twisting beauty... even what is pure, true and beautiful can be warped by the mind.

"All the recollections spinning in a field," relates to the chaos of attempting to understand moments and experiences in hindsight in your mind.

I was thinking there were two people to the story. As I go through my interpretation it's the singer and the other person. I believe that 'the hours' is a way of referring to their time spent together. Also for some reason I think it's a romantic sort of connection that they have but I know that there is no real evidence of this. Anyway.

I think she means like Can I wait for you? Are you coming back? in the first 2 lines. He is busy for now trying to figure something out by looking at the bigger picture overall from a higher point of view. Maybe even a more logical one as opposed to a more emotionally charged one living in the present.

Everything was great between them, and peaceful in a way, like in a meadow of flowers. It was almost too easy somehow and that gave him time to think and then that is where he ran into trouble. In that there was frustration and second guessing (violence) on his part. Is it too good to be true, he wanted to know. In order to answer this question for himself he withdraws from her and hyper analyzes what they have. He is searching for an explanation for his uneasiness. I think he might just not be used to the niceness of it.

He's going ahead and is halfway out the door basically but looks back as he is kind of unsure. She knows it's his fear making him want to leave. She doesn't want him to leave without her.

He is the only reason behind his fear. He turns the memories and good times they've shared over in his head many times until everything is so twisted to him that he can see whatever it is he wants. Eventually he can find a reason to discount their relationship.

It's not something you can make sense of just by thinking hard about it for awhile or suddenly draw a conclusion of from the evidence. It is too deep seeded and he is acting too fast. It runs too far to see even up from the tower. Is it too much to ask, she says, just to wait and see. Everything he could need to figure out could be known from a mere glance at the situation. There's nothing to find and he's thinking on it too hard and with too much urgency. Any problems he might have run deeper than their relationship and so he should not look there for the source of his inner conflict.

Really he is just scared of what he knows to be true. Things are just as good as they seem.

It isn't specified why. There are probably many reasons for feeling this way and totally going out on a limb but maybe he doesn't want to get his hopes up because then they could be crushed.
