Leaving Home Lyrics
Stay awake, cause life's like a blink of the eye
Breathe in...I feel the weight as the words they tumble down
Brace yourself your life's about to change, how you don't even know
But change is hard to deal with when all I feel is how I miss you now
As you sit there crying on the phone
It's funny how a goodbye is the only way to really say
I love you.
And love that's shared is love that's spared
from every inch of soil between us now.
Places a time when I don't know how
Oh the simplicity to piece together all I've been shown
But I don't know how it feels to have every piece of me crying to go home
Oh that feel went away and the pleasure falling asleep next to you
And the weight of the crime when we know that we do not know what to do
As you sit there crying on the phone
As you sit there wishing yourself home
Breathe in...I feel the weight as the words they tumble down
Brace yourself your life's about to change, how you don't even know
But change is hard to deal with when all I feel is how I miss you now
I love you.
And love that's shared is love that's spared
from every inch of soil between us now.
But I don't know how it feels to have every piece of me crying to go home
Oh that feel went away and the pleasure falling asleep next to you
And the weight of the crime when we know that we do not know what to do
As you sit there wishing yourself home

obviously these lyrics are not 100% accurate, but i figured it was a good start to a great song.
For me, this song is about a couple trying to make a long distance relationship work: 'from every inch of soil between us now' The constant references to crying over the phone to each other and 'wishing yourself home' also signal to me the long distance thing.
He wants to treasure every moment they have together because 'Life's like a blink of the eye'.
'Brace yourself you're life's about to change how you don't even know' With him moving to another place, what could happen to their relationship is completely unknown.
He's also trying to cope with all the change (moving to a new place, far away from his partner) : 'But change is hard to deal with when I feel is how I miss you now'
'It's funny how a goodbye is the only way to really say I love you' This line reminds me of the saying 'absence makes the heart grow fonder'.
