Hammer Lyrics

It was a difficult decision
But every drop of water was a lake
And I guess I had a vision
Of every unavoidable mistake

Though I never had a white flag
I surrendered you my every vital sign
But the thing about the heart is
It beats with no instruction from the mind

You came into the kitchen and you laid me on the table like a meal
I won't recover in a heartbeat
You could hammer a nail with the way I feel

You won't find us in the Bible
But the story's parabolic at the core
I'm just singing this recital
In the hope that they might one day find a cure

And our bodily components
And everyone that knows them came from stars
But the thing about the mind is
It has no consideration for the heart

And maybe I'm a naysayer
And probably the best is yet to come
I will recover in a heartbeat
I'll be born again with the morning sun!

Cover art for Hammer lyrics by Dry The River

In my opinion The following song tells about an hard period during a relationship and the search of hope by the lover who sings for his mistress. As we could see from the 1° strophe the lover is tired of a specific mistress's vice maybe or something that didn't work and his sorrow was too much, he has never found a way for confess it or let notice it ( "Though I never had a white flag I surrendered you my every vital sign") but he excuses it referring to the mains "guardians" of love : mind and heart but as we see from the rest of the song , they don't really consider each other ("It beats with no instruction from the mind, But the thing about the mind is It has no consideration for the heart") the "refrain" shows the careless of the mistress with the singer, and he let her the possibility to hurt his feelings and mood because he can't cure himself to his sickness and from sorrow ( " You came into the kitchen and you laid me on the table like a meal (....) You could hammer a nail with the way I feel ") Probably them as lovers aren't saints but he strikes the center of the problem and he sings hoping that someone will find the cure for his sickness and this hope is sends to something holy like probably the angels which as he says in the song, they come from the stars. In the last verses of the song we could find the last thought of the singer, a hopeful point of view like to admit that he doesn't know all the truth and as he sings " probably the best is yet to come" so will be a new life , he will get better his health, and why not ? the lovers will love each other again.
