Nowhere Kids Lyrics
All it takes is a main attraction
Scattered bones underneath the fashion
Lower life on a higher plain
That’s what you want
That’s what they’re givin’ away
Photogenic, come and get it
You can have it
Take it all!
Schizophrenic, so sadistic
I don’t know, I don't know
Politicians, in condition
Dyin’ for a curtain call
Counter culture, full of vultures
Bet you think I’m what!
We’re goin’ all out
But get ‘em up, get ‘em up
And if they wanna take a picture
Tell ‘em I don’t give a fuck!
No one needs you after all
That little social scene
It’s just a hate machine
No one’s here to take your call
And now your self esteem
Ain’t what it used to be
You’ve inspired
The birth of ignorance
The death of innocence
Guess who’s back and mad as hell
The nowhere kids that wished you well
Nowhere!
Kids
Nowhere!
Kids
Nowhere!
The new face of an old distraction
Another victim with the same reaction
A catastrophic contradiction at best
I know you’re hanging onto zeros
'Cause you got nothing left
Photogenic, come and get it
You can have it
Take it all!
Schizophrenic, so sadistic
I don’t know (I don’t know)
Politicians, in condition
Dyin’ for a curtain call
Counter culture, full of vultures
Bet you think I’m what!
We’re goin’ all out
But get ‘em up, get ‘em up
And if they wanna take a picture

I see this as about the people who take the internet with no caution. They are on Facebook, Twitter, etc. running their mouths and acting nothing like they would in real life. "Lower life on a higher plain" sums this up and is one of my favorite lyrics. These people are going to end up paying for their actions online. The "Nowhere kids" are "mad as hell"
It seems like this song is referring to people who like to make scenes and pretend they have a problem. I feel like Shinedown is speaking against those who label themselves with an issue so they can get attention. "No where kids" are probably the people who actually struggle with these issues and who feel insulted by the pretenders.
I believe this song is about the people That told them when they were kids that they would go nowhere in life. So now they are coming back when they are all famous and successful and letting them know that they are mad and they are proving a point.
I feel that this song is about the big name actors and musicians that conduct themselves in terrible ways yet still get idolized by younger fans.
When those celebrities finally get shamed and their followers realise just how terrible of an influence they are, they turn their back on them.
The celebrities then get replaced by another false idol to be idolized by the next generation, who follow and mimic everything they do, thus continuing the cycle.
The Nowhere Kids are the ones who realise later in life just how terrible their heros were
@dani109392 made a good point, I’d first like to note. Anyway… I think that they are talking about those popular kids in their cliques “the social scene,” which is both fake and causing a lot of negative drama towards others, “the hate machine.” Then, they are talking about how they don’t actually matter nearly as much as they think they do, and that nobody really needs them. Another point to make is that Brent is singing in the perspective of the person who was bullied by the “hate machine,” which I think adds to the value of the song, because it seems like if there was a music video to go with this it’d be Brent standing up to someone or some group of people that were at some point jerks to him. Brent, please do.
Also, in an ironic twist of fate, the song can also be interpreted as Brent going after himself… Maybe he’s calling himself out for doing these things to someone else, or doubting himself. Maybe this is the doubting of himself?
Also, for my first possible point, he mentions that the "Nowhere kids ... wished you well," aka they wished good things upon whoever he is talking, and now they are "back and mad as hell" because this person being stood up to probably did something wrong to them or blatantly disregarded them.
