Now That You're Dead Lyrics

i began to spoke,
my brain's holding the grip of a giant vice
it was all very good
floating higher and higher, a wonderful feeling.

DIE! DIE! DIE!

i'm watching closely just to see,
so i can rest in peace.
i put my face close, make sure you're not breathing
you look so nice, so pretty dress.
you're painted skin can say the rest
until they bury you, i won't believe it.

BREATHING! NOT BREATHING!

how can it feel so right when it's so right?
now that you're dead, it's gonna turn me on.
you're not like jesus christ, you're just gone.
now that you're dead, it's gonna turn me on.

BREATHING! NOT BREATHING!

i see that nothing in your eyes,
just cold as ice
i steal a kiss to make sure you're not breathing
we picked you out a pretty cage
scribbled some bullshit on the grave,
until they burn you i won't believe it.

BREATHING! NOT BREATHING!

how can it feel so right when it's so right?
now that you're dead, it's gonna turn me on.
you're not like jesus christ, you're just gone.
now that you're dead, it's gonna turn me on.

as precious as it is, i've waited for this day.
i've waited for your death, for you to fade away.

how can it feel so right when it's so right?
now that you're dead, it's gonna turn me on.
you're not like jesus christ, you're just gone.
now that you're dead, it's gonna turn me on.

any help on the spoken intro meaning?

clearly, this is a modern necrophilic classic, contemporary with "cold ethyl" and "a little piece of heaven." sounds a bit like a sequel to "wake the dead."

i was shocked when they encored with this and "box of sharp objects" - the best new used song and the best all time used song. don't believe me? bert precursor ABOSO by saying "this is the best song ever written" (although the intro to ABOSO was the "smells like teen spirit" rift)

Spoken intro "I began to float Up, way above my body My brain's holding the grip of a giant vice (It was all very good) Floating higher and higher, a wonderful feeling" - Someone's comment on an out-of-body experiance, such as when near death.

Corrections: "Your not WITH Jesus Christ, your just gone" as in, you have no life after death. "How can it feel so right, when it's so WRONG" It sounds more like wrong, and this would make more sense, but if you got "right" from a lyric book i'd believe it.

As Sofa King said, it could about necrophilia (Sexual attraction to dead people), but The Used have never gone that far before, although that would be very cool. It might just be about the narrator's extreme hate for a person, they finally died, and he's so exited he has to confirm it himself.

Could be about his dead girlfriend and how he's still in love with her even though she's dead.

I kind of think it sounds like "How can it feel so right when it's so RIPE"

Bert really annunciates the line the final time he says it, and there's the hard T sound at the end of "How can it feel so righT," and that hard T sound is definitely missing from whatever the word is at the end of the line. But it also definitely sounds like "ri", not "wro," for that final word. So begins with "ri" and ends in something that is not "t."

I wish I could find a good picture of the lyric sheet. There's a scan of it on Discogs, but the resolution is so low that it's unreadable.

@cory102137 I thought the word might be 'wry', though it wouldn't really make as much sense in context. 'Ripe' definitely fits better. 'Wrong' would fit the best, but yeah it certainly doesn't sound like 'wrong'.
