Personally, this song sounds to me like a big screw you to fueled by ramen. They dropped him when he went solo, and at first he thought it was so terrible. But then he realized it meant he was free to do whatever he wanted with him music without expectations, and that this is a good thing for him. This is his way of telling them he's free and nothing is going to bring him down.
