The Buggy Boogie Woogie Lyrics

Oh that buggy boogie woogie sweeps me off my feet
What this world needs is a good retreat
What this world needs is a good two dollar room
'n a good two dollar broom
One day I was sweepin' down by the wall
I bumped a mama spider 'n the babies begin' to fall
Off o' my broom
Now I gotta keep on sweepin' 'n sweepin'
'fore they fill the room
Now that buggy boogie woogie sweeps me off my feet
I gotta keep on sweepin' 'n sweepin'
Seems like I could keep on sweepin' 'n sweepin'
'n there's still too many feet
What this world needs is a good two dollar room
'n a good two dollar broom
What this world needs is a good two dollar room
'n a good two dollar broom
Seems like I could keep on sweepin' 'n sweepin'
'n there's still too many feet
Well the way I must be sweepin'
Must be with too many feet
Ah, 'n I'll still keep on sweeping 'n sweepin'
'n there's still too many feet

Cover art for The Buggy Boogie Woogie lyrics by Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band

Wrong title - his is Dropout Boogie.

Someone ought to write up the lyrics to The Buggy Boogie Woogie (the "overpopulation" song with the brushes)

@Dia270 are the lyrics correct now for The Buggy Boogie Woogie?? (I changed the title, but wasn't sure on the lyrics)

recalls another song to me "Bed Bug Blues" by Lightning Slim but Beefheart has the human population in mind " too many feet .." instead of spiders, some nice brushes too,

Legend has it that when the Magic Band was first formed, they lived together in a very seedy rental in LA for months and did nothing more than practice during that time. Zappa was alleged to have a great influence on the band at that time as well. This song is about The Captain trying to clean this crap hole up one day, accidentally disturbing a spider's nest and trying to deal with the resulting baby spiders now scattered everywhere. Hence the line, "Still too many feet" One can feel his frustration over the mess he caused. This was a time of great stress for The Magic Band. They were forced to steal food from local stores just to survive. Thank goodness they did. You have got to love The Captain. RIP Don, we miss you.
