Last Night of the Kings Lyrics

The castle is lit with candles and torches
The carriages and the nobles arrive in the front
The smell of splendor and decadence
And nobody can foresee.

The masters and the mistresses are walking through the halls
They're smiling, laughing, and showing that they're tall.
They don't recognize that we're waiting there
And just nobody can foresee

This is the last night of the kings

(Chorus)

We are the folk
And we have the right
To stand up and to fight
For an independent life.
We are the force
We are the might
And we will stand up
For an independent life.

The ball has begun and we're closing our trap
Inwardly we're gathering ourselves
While the dance comes to higher pace
Still nobody can foresee

Join in the circle and black robes are donned
Unsheathing our swords and get ready to dance
Our hearts are filled with the will to survive
In the last night of their lives

It's a murderous, murderous ballnight

(Chorus)

We are heroes, heroes of the night.
We are ready to live forevermore
Our gods lead us through this fight
Ah-aha-ah-ah
We are one and all on our way

(Chorus)

I think it's about French Revolution. Seems like they are preparing to that day named as storming of the Bastille

Lyrically, this song (as well as The Mission) seem to have been inspired by the writings of Ayn Rand. Is there any chance that these guys have read her works? Because that would just make them that much more awesome than they already are...

My Interpretation

.. because Ayn Rand wrote so much to inspire common people to free themselves from oppression of royals. Are you SERIOUS ?!?

Nowhere near the teachings of Ayn Rand, or rantings of Ayn depending on how you view her. It's telling the story of when peasants, serfs, or thralls would overthrow the regal tyrant overlords in the name of the law of common man.

@Achory considering that Ayn Rand was "the rich are taxed enough all ready", and this song is "off with the rich", i feel confident its closer to the opposite meaning
