surgency isnt a word but insurgency (rebellion/revolt) is; which makes more sense...i think

you could be right about the lyrics, it's so hard to tell sometimes :)
but "surgency" is indeed a word. it's a term associated with the Big 5 framework of personality traits - "surgency" specifically being a trait of positive emotional reactivity/affect (put simply, an optimistic, happy outlook).
personally, i hear "into a loss of surgency," based on a definite "s" sound right before "of surgency," or "surging sea" as you hear it.
i mean, it doesn't matter really of course. i'm not here to be right, everyone hears songs in their own way and develops meanings that are personal to them :)
