Why we can't be
or see who cuts us asunder
like a boor felling a tree
you're the thunder
going under
over me
Don't forget to pray
to keep it away
away from every day
where you wonder
why we can't be ...
or see who cuts us asunder
like a boor felling a tree
you're the thunder
going under
over me
to keep it away
away from every day
where you wonder
why we can't be ...

For me, this song is about God and man's continuous wondering of what or who leads our lives instead of ourselves and mostly lets bad things happen. I also find interesting the fact that "wonder" apart from "asking one's self" means "miracle".
I love what InBetweenTheLines said. For me this is about knowing even more than just god, but the limits of the human. We know so little of the world. We wonder why we can't be... anything, perfect, compassionate, in tune with nature, happy. We sense some great forces working around us, we're part of some vastly larger whole that we can't understand - but we wonder about it.
Any ideas about this song? Though I don't really get the meaning of it all, I find the lyrics very "well formed" and well fit with the music, and also evocative in a strange way
