Brantley ALWAYS dedicates this song to his mom. It's a song of how he left home in Jefferson and went to college and began drinking heavily and watching his grades slip further and further. As the song says, he ends up calling home thinking that they wouldn't speak to him after what all he had done. Much to his surprise, his parents allowed him to come back home.
This song relates to the story in the bible about the prodigal son. He used up all of his parents money doing sinful things, but ends up returning to his family only to be greeted with open arms. I love how the song puts it in more modern times to help other people relate to the story.
