Walking to New Orleans Lyrics

It's time, I'm walkin' to New Orleans
I'm walkin' to New Orleans
I'm gonna need two pair of shoes
When I get through walkin' to you
When I get back to New Orleans

I've got my suitcase in my hand
Now, ain't that a shame?
I'm leavin' here, today
Yes, I'm goin' back home to stay
Yes, I'm walkin' to New Orleans

You used to be my honey
Till I lost all my money
No use for me to cry
I'll see you bye and bye
When I get back to New Orleans

And I got no time for talkin'
I've got to keep on walkin'
New Orleans is my home
That's the reason why I'm goin'
Yes, I'm walkin' to New Orleans

I'm walkin' to New Orleans
I'm walkin' to New Orleans
I'm walkin' to New Orleans
I'm walkin' to New Orleans
I'm walkin' to New Orleans
I'm walkin' to New Orleans

Are you goin' my way?
I'm going back home [Incomprehensible]

I'm walkin' to New Orleans
I'm walkin' to New Orleans

Cover art for Walking to New Orleans lyrics by Neil Young

Until today I didn't know Neil had covered this, and I guess he hasn't "officially", but it's probably as much a tribute to Bobby Charles (the song's author) as to Fats Domino. Bobby Charles was a friend of Neil's that was in the Band's entourage and he's written a lot of well-known songs. Neil plays on some of Bobby Charles' recording, along with Willie Nelson.
