Sin & Sacrifice Lyrics
Regrets, night sweats
Occasional thoughts of suicide
Green light, I'm ok
Feeling fine, just a little tongue tied
Old habbits die hard and I've lived so fast
And I know its a long way down
tempting me
Tempting you
Tempting us in all that we do
Can't make a move
Show me a sign
What's your will
Its a...
long long way
Between sin and sacrifice
Long long way
Between sin and sacrifice
lost sleep, count sheep
Can't seem to get my mind off of things
Toss and turn, candles burn
Grinding teeth at night endlessly
Old habbits die hard and I've lived so fast
And I know its a long way down
tempting me
Tempting you
Tempting us in all we do
Can't make a move
Show me a sign
What's your will

I agree with most of you saying that it has to do with religion, BUT, I think its mostly about going through withdrawals off of either heroin or methadone, the whole song screams GOING THROUGH WITHDRAWALS TO ME, Ive gone through withdrawals several times and thats exactly what I think its mostly about to me....
Man, powerful song. Kinda difficult to know exactly what he's talking about, but maybe you're not supposed to. To me, it's just about making mistakes in life and having to live with them, but how they can come back and haunt you. It's like things you convince yourself you're doing the right thing or that it's to help someone else, when really you know it's a selfish act for yourself, and how it always comes back around. It's a long way between sin and sacrifice. Awesome song, definately hit home with me. I think it will with everyone... we all have our mistakes and pasts that haunt us. I certainly do...
I much agree with me_tall_i_ca on his ideas. Another idea may be that it is about the Choice between Christian (Sacrifice) and Non-Christian/Athiest/Etc(Sin). But that is must my idea. Either way I enjoy the song very much and also love the entire CD.
very powerful, i agree, i think it is about a decision made in life that has come back to haunt him, and no matter how he tries to justify it he just cant stop regretting it and its eating away at him,
I think it's about temptation, when there is something you desire but aren't supposed to have and thinking about nothing but it, not being able to sleep at night. The sin is taking this thing, the sacrifice is accepting the inevitable consequences.
It seems to me it's about having succumbed to temptation and commited 'sin' - 'Tempting me, tempting you, tempting us in all we do'. Obviously what the 'sin' is isn't specified and is meant to be interpreted personally by the listener. The song talks about the 'sacrifices' made because of this... 'Regrets, night sweats, occasional thoughts of suicide' etc. The chorus refers to how you don't think of the consequences when you're commit the crime, as it were. Such a powerful song, Dez's vocals are amazing, so raw.
I think that Rhayn has it right - the sacrifice is following the will of God, and the sin is ignoring His will. In the song, he has chosen 'sin' and is now regretting it.
ok this entire cd has some of the best drumming in metal today but the first two minutes of this song are the BEST. The build up and the emotion poured out of the drums alone is incredible then throw the guitars in over top, i need a towel.
i could be wrong but to me its along the lines of what Rhayn said but not so much a decision. i think its about being an athiest/non-christian and finally realizing that hey this isnt working and finding the comfort of religion.
Last night at the concert, right before they played this song, Dez said this:
"There are two things, basically two things in life. One is sin and the other is sacrafice...and in the end it doesn't really matter which you pick because you're still dead."
I think It's about drugs
