i don't think it's about dying.. most of the lyrics talk about how everything's gone electric, and how we live in such an unnatural world now, we live beneath the towers and radios, mothers dream of the hollywood lights/camera instead of their own children, everything around us has gone electric, light bulbs, television, and even as its causing us cancer we are all still attracted to it and that lifestyle.. everyone wants to shine like all these flashy toys we have to play with.. we used to look up at night and see the stars, now the power lines are in between.. and the women we desire are no longer our average common women but plastic, alien-like..

i think by shine he means die, into another life freed from this one to 'shine' eternally.. from cancer and death caused by power lines maybe??
