In the back shakes a tambourine
Nicotine from a silver screen

Cover art for Silver Screen lyrics by Felix Da Housecat

My interpretation of Silver Screen is pretty straightforward, it's how many chase the same highs: pleasure, drugs, money, fame -- over and over all for you to then indulge and become empty. Materialism and vanities stuck in a repeat:

"Sweet seduction in a magazine Endless pleasure in a limousine In the back shakes a tambourine Nicotine from a silver screen"

"In the music, say the word See the light, join the herd Love, it comes, love, it goes Diamond memories go with the flow"

In this stanza, I believe Felix is manipulating us to join the lifestyle instead of leaving it. "See the light, join the herd" how I see it, "see the light" is to be taken as the light on the silver screen. To "join the herd" is being a follower, you succumb. The lines "Love, it comes, love, it goes" and "Diamond memories go with the flow" interprets that even love and diamond memories can disappear within seconds since you're too infatuated with the disillusion imagery in-front of you. You become emotionally empty, just to continue consuming.

Even the most cherished moments fade under the tide of what you sit to see, that glamour lifestyle. The pleasure, money, drugs, and fame... because that's what is seen, the world IS dominated by spectacle and conformity. That's what I think Felix is telling us. Don't fall victim to that because if you do, you can't get out and it becomes a loop.

I grew up listening to Felix Da Housecat, this, Fantasy Girl, and Simmerman was my introduction to a LOT of house music alongside Junior Jack, Alan Braxe, and DJ Falcon. I'm glad I still have my record of Kittenz and Thee Glitz. .
