Disciples of Death Lyrics
I speak
To the
Opening eye
Only fools live
To die
Disciples of death
Watch
The shaft fly
Disciples of death
Watch
The shaft fly
Red
The fresh blood
A whirling turning colour
Burns
On a diamond star
Fresh blood
Burns
On a diamond star
To
Feed
On the ritual sight
The will
And flesh alike
Return
Into night
Through
The Light-Strike
Return
Into night
Through
The Light-Strike
Red
The fresh blood
A whirling turning colour
Burns
On a diamond star
Fresh blood
Fresh blood
Fresh blood
Fresh blood
Burns on
A diamond star
To the
Opening eye
Only fools live
To die
Disciples of death
Watch
The shaft fly

Burns
On a diamond star

I think this song may be about hightened sense during and in the face of death during war, which may feel like a machine, and prehaps the thoughts of a solider who may be counted as a disciple of death.
Alternatively, the 'diamond star' may be the narrator turning a bullet into something desirable or something attractive, easy to look at or be dazzled.
This is another cryptic song on this album with a really deep, groovy bass line.
This album is the Walker Brothers only album that is made up of entirely original songs, other albums consisted only of cover versions.
