Still Got the Blues (For You) Lyrics
Used to be so easy to give my heart away
But I found out the hard way
There's a price you have to pay
I found out that love was no friend of mine
I should have known time after time
So long, it was so long ago
But I've still got the blues for you
Used to be so easy to fall in love again
But I found out the hard way
It's a road that leads to pain
I found that love was more than just a game
You're playin' to win, but you lose just the same
So long, it was so long ago
But I've still got the blues for you
So many years since I've seen your face
Here in my heart, there's an empty space
Where you used to be
So long, it was so long ago
But I've still got the blues for you
Though the days come and go
There is one thing I know
I've still got the blues for you
But I found out the hard way
There's a price you have to pay
I found out that love was no friend of mine
I should have known time after time
But I've still got the blues for you
But I found out the hard way
It's a road that leads to pain
I found that love was more than just a game
You're playin' to win, but you lose just the same
But I've still got the blues for you
Here in my heart, there's an empty space
Where you used to be
But I've still got the blues for you
There is one thing I know
I've still got the blues for you

One of Gary's best.... This song has some amazing guitar... the feel is just amazing...
There are a few songs where the lead guitar communicates vibe and emotion better than any vocal you could apply to a song. This is one of those songs. I have heard criticism of GM saying that he is guilty of "over-playing", and in some cases it may be true. But this is one of those rarities where every note, every lick is timed, spaced, and played just perfectly, where the whole is much greater than the sum of it's parts.
Also, the melody is the same as the chorus in Lionel Richie's "Hello".
This is one of the best songs ever written i swear! Amazing lyrics and guitar work! Gary knows his stuff!! ROCK ON GARY!!!
Blues playing at its absolute best. Blues song at its best. If you want to know what the Blues basis of rock is, this is the perfect song. This is making a guitar cry.
Somehow Gary figured out a way to make the guitar riff have the feeling of heartache. The guitar cries and you feel the pain that Gary was in when he wrote the song and the riff, as if your own heart was breaking at the same time. Beautiful and heartbreaking, but it's a song that I haven't been able to listen to for many years, for that same reason.
One of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written.
One of my all time favorite..Thanks Gary (RIP) for the music..
This song tears me apart!!! Not only the lyrics but this has the sweetest guitar work I have ever heard!! I am a confirmed Hendrix and Clapton fan, but Gary has blown them both out of the water with this one. There goes another great star to thr Great Rock and Roll band in Heaven, Gary thank you for the hurt and apin of this song!!!!! Tina, thank you for the memories..............it's been soooooo long !!!!!!!!! Love you both and miss you dearly !!!!!
Hope you go home :)
