If I recall correctly, Neil Young learned about Kurt Cobain's suicide, where Mr. Cobain had quoted a Neil Young song lyric (from "My My, Hey Hey") in his suicide note. Neil Young was so horrified by that, that he sat down and composed this song, or something like that.
